The Knicks are still showing interest in John Konchar, but really, they still need to add a center. We're going to break down all of these latest reports today.

And now, let's get started.

The Knicks are still interested in John Konchar. The Knicks are still building out this roster, and while they need another center, they're actually looking to add another player at a different position.

The Wing Position.

Shout out to NBA Central and the Stein Line for giving us this following information. According to them, John Konchar is one of the top free agents available and has drawn interest from multiple teams, including the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks, the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors.

According to Stein exactly, the Raptors sit just 2.3 million under the first apron, with the total of only 13 guaranteed contracts after reacquiring Leonard. The other three teams do have just enough apron flexibility to add one more player. Both Florida teams have 14 players on standard contracts, and the Knicks currently have 13 players.

But as I mentioned, New York still needs another center. The problem is, these are the only options available right now.

Shout out to the Steinlein for also listing some available free agents, not specifically related to the Knicks, just in general, including these bigs. Tony Bradley, who Ian Bagley already reported is on New York's radar. Drew Eubanks, again, on New York's radar. Then you have Bismak Biombo, Mason Plumlee, Dwight Powell, Kelly Olenek, Maxi Kleber, and Kevin Love.

Do you understand now why the Knicks haven't announced that they've signed another center in free agency? Because I mean, which player would they even sign in free agency that could realistically help this team? That's why the Knicks are likely working the phone lines trying to make a trade happen. And really, that's the way to fill the center need on this team. But going back to John Konchar, let's talk about this as if the Knicks roster really had all openings at all positions. Just for a moment, let's talk about it like that. If we're looking at the Knicks roster open at each and every position, and then we look at a player like John Konchar, he makes a lot of sense, not only for the Knicks, but for any NBA team. He provides 3-point shooting. He's also 6'5, so he's a true wing. He can defend multiple positions, but what he does very well even at his size is rebounding the ball. And of course, with New York, they definitely need more of that too. So, Konchar, he provides all of that. But, that's if you don't take into account the Knicks' current roster. When you do take that into account, you'll notice Landry Shammet, Mohamed Diwara, Jordan Clarkson, Deuce McBride. What do all of those players have in common? They can shoot the ball very well, especially from three. They can defend multiple positions, and some of them can rebound. Maybe Konchar is a better rebounder than some of those players, but still, they can offer rebounding too. What I'm trying to say is, if you add a player like John Konchar to this current Knicks team, you're basically adding a similar player to who the Knicks already have. At this point, adding a player like Konchar, he's a luxury. He's the player that you add if you had all other positions filled, and the depth already filled. Is that the case right now for New York? It's not. Konchar is a very good player, and in a different circumstance, maybe he would make sense for this team. But New York already has that player type. They don't need another player like that. They need another center. I don't know how many times I can break this down, because so many people in the comments keep telling me, it's only the third string center, Recap. Why are you going so hard for this? This is why.
