Dink Pate returns. He's back! The Knicks just made another move for their future. They just brought back Dink Pate for their Westchester team.
Shout out to NBA Insider Michael Scotto for giving us this following information. The New York Knicks will sign Dink Pate to an Exhibit 10 deal after his withdrawal from Providence. He averaged 16.4 points, 6.7 boards, and four assists last season in the G League. He was the youngest Pro USA player ever when he signed with the G League Ignite in 2023 He was 17 years old. By the way, multiple NBA insiders have confirmed this move by New York. According to Steph Bondi, Ian Begley, and Steve Popper, three of the main Knicks beat writers, they have all confirmed that the Knicks will bring back Dink Pate on an Exhibit 10 deal. He'll likely be playing with the Westchester Knicks.
Even though Pate only signed an Exhibit 10 deal with New York, every single insider is confirming that New York signed him to play in their G-League with Westchester. And look at the update at the top of this screen. It says the Knicks have just waved Dink Pate, even though they just signed him to an Exhibit 10 contract. New York did wave him, but signing him, the only reason they did that was to get him part of the Westchester Knicks. And they just did that, regardless if he's waved or not. Now you might be asking yourself, why did he leave Providence to come back to New York, to play with the Westchester Knicks? Well, I have those updates too.
Shout out to theheavy.com and Kevin McNamara for giving us this following information. Pate had been working to resolve his eligibility situation for several months before deciding against risking his immediate playing future.
According to Kevin McNamara, Pate has been fighting with the NCAA for months over his collegiate eligibility and did not want to risk being denied and not having a professional position to fall back on. With that uncertainty now behind him, Pate appears poised to resume his development in familiar surroundings. Let's not forget why I'm hyped that this kid is back. He's a certified baller. He's only 20 years old. He's 6'8. He has a near 7 wingspan. And he is ready to contribute once again to the Westchester Knicks. When he left, he was already having an amazing season. He was receiving two-way offers from multiple teams, including New York. He declined all of them because he wanted to go back to college to make more money. But now that that's out of the cards, he is returning back home to the Westchester Knicks. New York has a very good piece for the future.
Dink Pate being only 20, has already accumulated considerable professional experience since joining the G League Ignite program in 2023, at just 17 years old. After spending 2024-2025 campaign with the Mexico City Capitains, the Versatile Guard joined the Knicks organization following the 2025 NBA draft. His first season with Westchester represented a significant step forward, with Pate averaging 16.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Across 50 appearances, he also shot 34.6% from 3, demonstrating and encouraging progress as a perimeter scorer. Coming into the league, we have to remember, one of his major weaknesses was his shooting. That's why seeing 34%, you might look at that for 3-point shooting and say, well, that's not really that good. But if you look at his progression, where he started, around 27% from 3 and 39% from the field. And then you look at his G-League stats with the Westchester Knicks. His shooting, it got better and better and better. Same thing with his playmaking and his ability to stop turnovers. Those were all weaknesses, but he got over them and got better. This is why this kid is such a talent. It's not only because of what he can do, it's all of the improvements that he's made to his game. That's why I'm so hyped he's back with the Knicks.
Pate's combination of size, ball handling ability, and offensive versatility makes him an intriguing developmental prospect, particularly given his age. While a regular season NBA roster spot remains far from guaranteed, another productive campaign with Westchester could strengthen Pate's case for a future two-way or standard contract.
