And now, let's get started.
The Knicks receive good news, but we have some good news and some bad news to discuss today. But like we always do, let's first start with the good news. The first piece of good news we have to discuss today has to do with Tyler Nickel. Take a look.
Shout out to Steph Bondi of the New York Post for giving us this following information. The Knicks still have to fill one roster spot and could sign three two-way players. Tyler Nickel, their second round pick, remains unsigned, but logic indicates he'll get a deal.
And it's not just the New York Post. Yahoo Sports, they're also confirming this as well for Tyler Nickel. According to them, Nickel, who the Knicks selected with the 47th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, impressed the team's brass with his shooting during summer league play.
The rookie is expected to get a two-way contract.
Even though it hasn't been announced yet, it's likely that the Knicks will give Tyler Nickel a two-way contract. Even though a lot of us assumed this was going to happen anyways, it's nice to get an update stating exactly what we all believe. The next time we hear about Nickel, it'll be New York announcing that he's signed to a two-way contract. But that's not the only good news we have to discuss today.
Our next piece of good news has to do with Jalen Brunson and his recovery from wrist surgery. As you can see here, Jalen Brunson without the cast on, working out, working on his shooting, and according to New York Basketball, in this image we see Jalen Brunson and his repaired wrist put in work down the shore. So clearly he's working on his game. It looks fine. There looks like there's no injury or issues to talk about. And he looks confident in his game and in his shot. This is really the best case scenario for Jalen Brunson given that he's coming off of wrist surgery. The cast is off. He's already working on his game. I believe without a doubt, Brunson will be fully healthy and available for the regular season. Probably even before that, but definitely for the season. And that right there is the best piece of news that we could discuss today. But that's not all. We still have even more good news to talk about. The next piece of good news we have today has to deal with Miles McBride and his feelings about New York. Shout out to McBride for giving us this following information. This is what he had to say recently while being interviewed about New York. According to Deuce, Yeah, New York means a lot. It's the only team I've known playing in the NBA.
It's seen me grow up, seen me develop, and the community here has welcomed me in. And I feel like from day one, that's just been a lot of love. And I couldn't have been more appreciative of being here. It's great to hear that Deuce McBride loves New York, loves playing here, and he loves the memories that he made here. But that last line that Deuce McBride said, let's pull it up again.
I couldn't have been more appreciative of being here. Now, that does sound like he doesn't want to go, but it also sounds like if he did go, he's okay with it because he made history here, he made an impact here, he made memories here for his entire career that he will never forget. But if it is time to move on, then it's time to move on. And with regards to Deuce McBride, it's likely New York is not going to extend him. So he will likely be traded, either now or during the season. But either way, it's still great to hear Deuce speak so highly of the Knicks and New York. Now the last piece of good news we have to discuss today has to do with the Knicks salary cap and potentially them seeing a little bit more money that they can use to operate above the second apron. Take a look at this update.
