The Knicks just got great news. The Knicks continue to build out this roster for next season, but the main trend that we're seeing right now is that New York wants to bring back as many players as possible from the championship team. And that's still the case today.
And that's where our first piece of good news actually comes from. Take a look at this update.
Shoutout to Ian Bagley for giving us this following information on the Knicks' next move. According to him, I know that the Knicks have expressed all along a desire to bring back veteran Jordan Clarkson, who was pivotal and played a great role in many parts of this Knicks Championship season. There's a willingness there. Bagley didn't only say that one time, he said it multiple times. Take a look at this. According to Bagley, the New York Knicks in free agency have mutual interests with one player.
And that player has also consistently signaled that they would like to be back with the Knicks. And that player is Jordan Clarkson.
And it's not just Ian Bagley saying this. Multiple NBA insiders have confirmed the same thing. According to Michael Scottow of Hoops Hype, he states the following, While Robinson and Huck Porty left New York in free agency, the door remains open for Jordan Clarkson to return. According to league sources, Steph Bondi of the New York Post also said the following when commenting about Demar DeRozan potentially joining The Knicks. He said the following, I don't know about DeRozan, but I'm optimistic about Jordan Clarkson resigning.
After signing Andre Drummond, New York has two more vet minimum contracts left that they can give out to other players in free agency. And clearly, they're looking to utilize one of those vet minimum contracts to bring Jordan Clarkson back to The Knicks. And I absolutely love that move. Clarkson, he's a walking bucket. He was a major piece for New York during this championship season. He improved his game on both sides of the ball. He did it offensively, and he's still a walking bucket. But defensively, he did things nobody thought he could do. He improved his defense at this stage of his career. Almost no veteran player can do that. But Clarkson, he was able to do that. And in the process, he became one of the best two-way players on this Knicks team. If he's coming back at a very low contract rate, because let's face it, if he went out in free agency, he could get a bigger deal. But he wants to stay loyal to the Knicks, a team that believed in him when other teams didn't want to. And because the Knicks gave him a chance, he wants to return to the Knicks on a vet minimum deal. And that's an amazing steal for New York. But that's part of the good news. It's not all of it. The good news? It keeps rolling in. According to James L. Edwards of The Athletic, he heard that Alvarado's three-year, 14 million-ish deal is guaranteed 12 million, and has a 2.7 million partial guarantee in the last year. Amazing contract. As for Mohammed Diawara, according to Fred Katz and Shoutout to Sleeper Knicks for providing this information to us, they state the following, Diawara's four-year, $11.2 million contract with the Knicks is guaranteed only for the first two seasons. His salary will start at $2.6 million for next season. What an amazing steal!
