The Knicks just got good news. The good news keeps on rolling in. And the first part of this good news has to do with Mohamed Diawara. Not only did he have a phenomenal rookie season, but he got paid. He got a new contract with The Knicks. And now, next season, it looks like he's going to have a bigger role. Take a look at these following updates. Shout out to NBA insider, Kristen Winfield, with the New York Daily News, for giving us this following information. According to him, after the starting lineup of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Ananobe, Mikael Bridges, and Josh Hart, Mohamed Diawara could be the fourth man off of Brown's bench, behind Shamit, Alvarado, Jordan Clarkson, and Miles McBride. Alvarado is a point guard. McBride is a combo guard. Shamit is a combo guard slash wing. Bacom Dottier is also 6'9, but has more to prove to earn minutes on a title contender.
Winfield continues here by stating, Diawara already made his case last season. The Knicks didn't reward him with minutes in the moment, but they gave him a long-term contract, what amounts to roughly the Vets minimum. They made a similar move right after trading Emmanuel quickly to the Toronto Raptors, as part of the OG Ananobe trade, inking Miles McBride to what quickly became a well below market value three-year extension. Diawara's play will surely exceed the 2.5 million average annual value of his newly inked contract. The question is, just how much value the second-year player will extract from the opportunity of a lifetime to support a reigning champion suddenly looking internally for a boost on the bench?
We'll be seeing more of Diawara next season in a bigger role, and I can't wait to see it. There were a few games last year where I thought he should have played, but New York did not want to expose him, because if they did, right now, they would have never signed Mohamed Diawara to a team-friendly deal. The next time we'll see Diawara, we'll be in Summer League tomorrow night, when New York takes on the Brooklynettes. But now, it's official. We'll also see another player, a rookie who the Knicks just drafted, Jack Kayil. That's right, he was finally cleared, and now he's been added to New York Summer League roster.

According to them, our player, Jack Kayil, has received permission to play for the Knicks in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. And while we'll be seeing the newest rookie in Vegas, that does not mean he'll make the team for next season. He could still be sent overseas by the New York Knicks. And in my opinion, that's a very smart move. According to Steve Popper, Jack Kayil has been added to the Knicks Summer League roster. I'm hearing it doesn't mean he'll definitely stay in the NBA next season. See Luka Vildoza or Rokas Yocabaitis, players who we saw in the Summer League, but then shipped off internationally to play overseas.
I love this move by the New York Knicks. It gives them the best of both worlds. If Kayil actually works out, they can keep him a part of the roster, likely give him a two-way contract, and see what he can do, and how much he improves by playing for Westchester next season. But if they think he's not ready, or he's not showcasing enough development, they can ship him back to Germany, let him develop there for another year, and then make a decision on him next season. That's a great move by this front office. I would expect nothing less. But that's not the only good news we have to talk about. There's even more. And this part of the good news has to do with part of the front office. Brock Aller, a cap wizard. He worked magic with New York's cap situation. And because of him, the Knicks were able to sign five players for $17.5 million.
