The Knicks are in Trade Talks. The Knicks are still looking to make a trade to add another center to this team. They're speaking to multiple teams. One of the teams they're speaking to is the Charlotte Hornets to pull off another trade. And this time, they're not only speaking about Moussa Diabate, they're speaking about another player too.

According to them, the Knicks have been looking to replace Mitchell Robinson and add more depth at the center position, finding another backup center. We know that they are inquiring with a lot of teams. They are trying to find cheap centers to play backup potentially.
NBA insider Brett Siegel also mentioned that the Knicks have looked at younger big man on rookie-type contracts, including Mohamedou Gouye from the Charlotte Hornets and Yves Missy from the New Orleans Pelicans. According to Siegel, the whole idea of bringing in a player like Moussa Diabate was to get a guy who's athletic, young, and that they could maybe get on a small contract and look to build up in their system. So clearly, the Knicks still have interest in trading for Moussa Diabate with the Hornets. But that's not the only Hornets player they're inquiring about. According to Siegel, that's why they've had interest in Mohamed O'Gweye from the Hornets. They've also had interest again in Yves Missy from the New Orleans Pelicans.
So the Knicks have interest in trading for either Moussa Diabate, Mohamed O'Gweye, or Yves Missy. But with Yves Missy, they're still being rejected. According to Brett Siegel, the Knicks have tried to land Missy multiple times, including around the trade deadline when they were working on the Jose Alvarado deal. They tried to trade for him multiple times, even dating back to the trade deadline. They tried to make that a package deal where they would get both players. And the Pelicans? They weren't about it then. They're not about it now. They are not moving Yves Missy, at least not to the Knicks.

With the Knicks trying to stay financially flexible and close to their hard cap limit, the backup center spot remains one of their final roster needs, according to Siegel. So we'll see what Leon Rose and the Knicks can cook up. They're a team that always looks to get right to the dollar in terms of their hard cap. So I would expect them to have something brewing there.
