The Knicks attempting to trade for a center. The Knicks have been in trade discussions with the New Orleans Pelicans. This has happened multiple times. They are trying to trade for center, Yves Missi. But each and every time they've reached out, they've been rejected. Take a look at these following updates. Shout out to NBA Insider, Chris Haynes, for giving us this following information. According to him, the New York Knicks have tried feverishly to trade for New Orleans Pelicans center, Yves Missi, after losing Mitchell Robinson. But offers have been rejected multiple times. The Pelicans view Missi as a vital core figure, and the message is clear. They are not moving him. He's unavailable.
I think it's pretty clear at this point. We knew The Knicks attempted to trade prior to the NBA Draft. And now, we know the team they tried to trade with. The New Orleans Pelicans. Shout out to Ian Bagley for giving us this following information. According to him, around the NBA Draft, the Pelicans signaled that Yves Missi would not be available via trade and will remain in New Orleans under new head coach Jamal Mosley. But Bagley wasn't done there. He also provided this following update on Missi. According to him, Missi is a name that's been tossed around for New Orleans. But the Pelicans had no appetite to move Missi prior to the Draft.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Who else is on the Knicks trade radar in terms of making a deal for that player? The only other name that we've heard mentioned regarding New York and making a deal is with Charlotte Center Moussa Diabate. Let's break down those updates too.

According to him, if the Knicks are trying to stay under the second apron, it would seem that they would have to go the trade route to acquire a center that's anywhere near the competency of a Mitchell Robinson. People are looking at Diabate down in Charlotte as a potential tradeable center because Charlotte has that glut of bigs post-draft. The Knicks will have to navigate this thing and figure out how to replace Robinson.
It's absolutely clear at this point. If you were wondering how New York was going to get a backup center behind Karl-Anthony Towns, whether they were going to go the free agency route or the trade route, it's clear they want to make a trade for that backup center. That doesn't mean they still won't explore the free agency market to try to find the backup for their backup. But right now, to find a legitimate backup center behind Towns, they are exploring the trade market. They tried to trade for Yves Missi multiple times. They did this back and forth. But the Pelicans, they rejected New York's offers each and every time. We do not have any idea right now what that trade package was. But if I'm a betting man, I would have had to guess.
