Welcome back to The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny, the only NFL podcast. One of the hosts doesn't have a joke today because he didn't show up for work. That's Lenny, on Mina Kimes.

Domonique Foxworth (0:44)

I'm sorry, it's all my fault.

Mina Kimes (0:46)

That's OK. It is. But we're here to talk about week five.

Domonique Foxworth (0:53)

We're being so nice, but I know you're so mad at me for changing the schedule. It's OK. You'll forgive me. I've been such a good friend for so long. You are such a great friend.

SPEAKER_5 (1:01)

Let me off the hook, please.

Mina Kimes (1:03)

We're here to talk about week five. There's some good games this week, some really good games, actually. There's a net football is not one of them, but there's some good ones. As always, we're going to talk about maybe, I don't know, maybe it'll turn into a great game. I don't need Foxworth of the Dominique Foxworth podcast. Our show is here to join me to break down all of the games. We're previewing them. We're going to talk about them all some at more in more detailed than others.

Both scab ways look good on the schedule. This is one of those for the season. I was like, well, it's a nice Thursday night game.

But the bucks are imploding. Is that too strong?

Domonique Foxworth (1:36)

No, it's not too strong. Yeah, the defense never was what I thought it was going to be, and the offense wasn't either, and then lost their quarterback. So yeah, nothing about this team was as good as I expected to be as one of my worst preseason predictions.

Mina Kimes (1:50)

They lost the quarterback, but the quarterback wasn't playing well. So it's kind of like, so this is my game. I'm going to key in on it and focus on that defense because, like you said, I thought this was going to be a top 10 I think I had them like ninth or something. I was very optimistic about this young Bucs defense. And thus far, I have found them to be quite underwhelming in multiple respects.

You know, I'll highlight the pass rush here. There's not a single Buc who rakes inside the top 90 in pressures thus far. Ruben Bain Jr. didn't start out great, but then he's missed a couple of games. Yahya Diaby in a contract year has not been producing. I mean, even like Vita Vea isn't really getting much push. And now you face a Dallas Cowboys offense that looks like an absolute buzzsaw.

We just saw, you know, go absolutely nuclear against Houston. I think their best chance, I mean, we get the other side of the ball is probably actually their best chance. Jalen Daniels, who honestly, I did actually watch him. He can do some stuff, you know, it wasn't like, it was not, he's not, it didn't look like starting NFL quarterback, but it also didn't look like a disaster to me. It looked like your standard backup quarterback.

Domonique Foxworth (3:09)

So yeah, I think it would have been fine if they just needed to buy a couple weeks or been fine if they were building to something else. This was a team that felt like they needed to do more. He's not good enough to overcome all the shortcomings. It's especially if you're going to have to go toe to toe with Dak. They're going to need some sort of miracles at some point, I would think. And Dak seems like he's one of the guys who never quite slips up. It's just never bad for him.

It might be slightly above average, and sometimes it's great that offense is going to, I think, be a problem for the Bucs. I don't see how they stay in this one.

Mina Kimes (3:43)

I'll just, this feels like maybe not his last stand, but Todd Bowles, this is it, man. You want to save your job, roll out some sort of bespoke game plan for Dak Prescott. If you sit back and play zones, he'll carve you up.

If you can't get pressure, he'll carve you up. He'll throw the ball quickly anyways, but they have to find a way to get pressure in this game.

Domonique Foxworth (4:11)

That's it.

If you blitz, so that's the thing also about dealing with Dak, is like the, if you blitz enough, he'll figure that out and make you pay. Like it has to be like, to your point, it has to be bespoke to where they want to attack and when they want to attack there. He is playing at such a high level, and that offenses all the talent. And I guess you can point to some bucks injuries, but like they haven't been good even when they were fully healthy, like on the defensive side of the ball. It's not, yeah, it's not very promising, you're right. This is like a last stand, win one for the Gipper, save his job, like emotionally charged game, but it's on the road.
