Look, Marlon, I will say, I was watching the Wayans Brothers every week, all right, and you and Sean had that on, okay?
Kym Whitley (0:57)
In any episode on Martin with Shanae-Nae, I couldn't take it. Because Martin got a sister, and that's what's so crazy. I was like, why are you trying to play your sister?
SPEAKER_1 (1:06)
He got a sister.
Kym Whitley (1:06)
You don't act like that, but they look just alike.
SPEAKER_4 (1:09)
This dude was looking good.
Kym Whitley (1:10)
He walked up, and we was like, me and my girl was like, I got this one, and I gave him the paper. He walked away, I was like, he had nothing in the back. He was good in the front, but he was butt-necked in the back. Everything was missing.
SPEAKER_4 (1:24)
I was like, Amigo, let's... I had him like this. We were ziplining through the jungle. I'm telling you, I was tearing my nails in him.
What you know about the Roman Burger? What you know about Mr. You bet you know about that Roman Burger. What?
Scott Mescudi (2:02)
What's good, y'all? Welcome back to Big Bro with Kid Cudi, a Wave Original. I'm your Big Bro Scott coming to you live from the attic of my mind. This week, I'm joined by the Cleveland legend, my big sis, Kym Whitley. She is fucking hilarious, honest, and full of stories. We debated the best black sitcoms of all time and reminisced on our favorite Cleveland staples. So kick back, relax, vibe out, and enjoy.
Kym, what is good? Thank you for coming to Big Bro. I really appreciate it. You are a legend. You come from my hometown, Shaker Heights. That's right. Like, what the fuck?
Do you know that was when we first met, when you came to the high school? You don't even remember me. That's right. Because all the kids swarmed you.
Kym Whitley (2:48)
They did?
SPEAKER_4 (2:49)
That is so funny.
Kym Whitley (2:49)
You told me. I forgot about that because you weren't who you are.
Scott Mescudi (2:53)
No.
SPEAKER_4 (2:53)
That's so great.
Kym Whitley (2:54)
You're in high school.
Scott Mescudi (2:55)
Yeah. You came into the cafeteria, and everybody rushed you. Next Friday had just came out. It was the hottest movie at the time.
And I did not know at the time that you were from Shaker. And everybody was just blown away, and you were just greeting all the kids. It was so cool. And I said, you know what, man, if I get it on one day, I'm going to link up with Kym.
SPEAKER_1 (3:19)
You know what I mean?
Kym Whitley (3:21)
So did you know at that age you was going to get it on?
Scott Mescudi (3:23)
Man, I was making music at that time.
Kym Whitley (3:26)
In high school?
Scott Mescudi (3:27)
I was making music with my friends at their cribs, and make a little bootleg, little CDs and tapes that I gave to my friends and stuff like that. I had at 16, 17 when around the time you came to school, I definitely had that dream of wanting to be a successful musician.
SPEAKER_1 (3:46)
Wow.
Kym Whitley (3:47)
I love that because it makes me feel like I had a little bit of something to do with inspiring you.
SPEAKER_1 (3:54)
Oh, you did. You did.
Scott Mescudi (3:55)
Because it's not many of us.
Kym Whitley (3:57)
It's not.
Scott Mescudi (3:57)
You know what I'm saying? From Cleveland and especially Shaker Heights.
SPEAKER_1 (4:00)
Yeah, from Shaker Heights, yes, yes.
Scott Mescudi (4:02)
So for me, it was like, oh man, like it can be done, you know? Like you can make it, you know? It's like, because I had these thoughts of a lot of times, like why me? Like why Scott Meskety? You know?
And I would say like, what makes me special? Like, why do I deserve that? And I would see you, I would see Steve Harvey, I would see like all these people kind of thriving, Arsenio Hall, and they're all from where I'm from. And I'm just like, man, this is doable. It was so inspiring.
