Remember when it was impossible to misplace the TV remote? Because you were the TV remote? Remember when music sounded like this?

Remember when social media was truly social?

All right then, on your mark, get set, go. Welcome yet again to the show that keeps an eye on things for seniors.

12 years now and I'm still learning something new every time I walk into this studio. And by the way, I'm always on the lookout for new sponsors whose companies rely heavily on people, really maybe 40 and older. That's more like the age group that listens to this show. All it takes is an email to connect us and you don't have to talk to anybody else down here, just me. And as I tell all my sponsors, I will never waste your time or your money. Quick email, hey, Doug, tell me more. And I'll get back to you just as quick as I can. So in weather news, and there is some legitimate news around this, more of the same for the rest of this week. And then we finally get some relief from the heat. Highs next week range from 83 to 91, and there's only one of those, with overnight lows in the 70s, all the way until Monday, October 5th, when the high shows at 81 and the low is allegedly going to be 66 degrees. I think at that point, it'll be safe to say that fall has fell. Oh, and by the way, well, two things really, that same next week, what's gonna be much cooler? The good comes with the bad. There's gonna be a bunch of rain, a couple of days showing 100% chances. That's still eight or nine days out, so don't fret over it just yet.

But it's gonna be rainy probably that whole week. And if by chance you're wondering how on earth we got those very welcome thunderstorms and showers yesterday afternoon, despite only a 20% chance of rain in most of the forecasts, it's pretty simple. I got my car washed on the way home from golf out at Black Hawk yesterday, a Monday ritual now, blazing hot and calm all day, only a few unthreatening clouds just loping across the sky. So I thought, you know, this would be a great time to go ahead and wash the car. It needs it. It needs it desperately. I haven't washed it in quite some time. So I pulled into the, there's a nice car wash out on old highway 90, close to highway six. I bought the wash, put my car in neutral, got hooked up on the little track, and made the three minute or so ride from entrance to exit. Came out of the tunnel, looped around for a dry on the outside and vacuum on the inside, and I drove home. And not 10 minutes later, I hear this really loud crack of thunder, and about maybe a minute and a half, two minutes after that, it was pouring down rain, and it kept pouring down rain for a good half hour, maybe even a little bit longer. The car is still clean, but there are water spots here and there that weren't there or here yesterday. So that's why it rained yesterday, in case you wonder. Don't blame me. You ought to be thanking me, really. We've had to struggle through this last stretch of just bone dry weather, and we have. We've made it now. We got that rain yesterday, and I hope you got some, too. When I looked at the Weather Channel radar, it looked like there were pop-ups all over the place. So hopefully, you got a little rain just like I did.

In oil news, if you're buying it by the barrel, down earlier this morning to just 3 cents north of $90, that's still about 20 bucks higher than where most of us would like to see it, maybe 25

But it's also a step in the right direction. And there's word now that oil is legitimately flowing again through the Strait of Hormuz. I'm not sure how long that's gonna last, but every day, pretty much every day, the Middle East can export its oil safely. It's just another day that that price is gonna continue to come down. So enough of all that. Right up front here, I wanna make you aware of something that's beginning to generate serious concerns for national security. And if trends continue, it could become even worse. We know that Michigan senatorial candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, if elected in November, would become the first Muslim member of the US. Senate. And that has a lot of people more than concerned a little bit, because given his relationship with radical Muslim Hassan Piker, and more generally, just his devotion to socialism, because his seat in the Senate, were he to be elected, would afford him access to a wealth of classified government and military information.
