Katherine, I'm gonna do your intro now. Thanks for coming on to the podcast.
Katherine Ryan (0:03)
You don't mean that.
Romesh Ranganathan (0:04)
I do mean it.
Katherine Ryan (0:05)
Okay.
Romesh Ranganathan (0:05)
What makes you think I don't mean that?
Katherine Ryan (0:06)
Because you want to be at home.
Romesh Ranganathan (0:08)
Oh yeah, look, it's not better than being at home. Fine. But I'm glad to be doing it with you. Okay. I'm really delighted. Yeah, me too. How much of a debate did you have about having to do this podcast?
Katherine Ryan (0:18)
With whom?
Romesh Ranganathan (0:19)
With me. How much do you want to do it out of 10?
Katherine Ryan (0:23)
10, 11
Romesh Ranganathan (0:24)
11?
Katherine Ryan (0:24)
I was annoyed when episodes started coming out because I thought I was a better friend to you than other people that I was seeing. Come on. Then I wondered what the was up.
Romesh Ranganathan (0:32)
Thunder Cat is one of my besties.
Katherine Ryan (0:35)
Okay. Hello, I'm Katherine Ryan and I'm going to be finally on The Romesh Ranganathan Show.
SPEAKER_4 (0:51)
Oh, shut up, Romesh.

This advertisement is brought to you by Apple Watch. As you know, I've been on a journey with my health and fitness over the years and what a glow up it's been. And I'm still learning. But what I do know is how important it is to listen to your body and know if it needs a big gym session or rely on the sofa. A wise person, perhaps me, once said that the heart tells the story of your health and with the new Apple Watch Series 12, you can understand it better than ever. It's got this new readiness score which basically tells you whether it's a let's go or do let's stay based on your activity, vitals and sleep. How are you? It's so weird doing a podcast with actually a mate.
SPEAKER_3 (2:32)
Oh, what?
Romesh Ranganathan (2:34)
Yeah.
Katherine Ryan (2:34)
I feel like you're everyone's friend. You have friends in the world of hip hop, in the world of acting, comedy.
Romesh Ranganathan (2:41)
Acquaintances, I wouldn't say friends.
SPEAKER_3 (2:42)
Fine.
Katherine Ryan (2:43)
Contemporaries.
Romesh Ranganathan (2:44)
Contemporaries, yeah.
Katherine Ryan (2:45)
Yeah.
Romesh Ranganathan (2:46)
Celine Dion in Paris, tell me about it.
Katherine Ryan (2:48)
I will tell you about that. Please. So it's been a bit of a controversy.
Romesh Ranganathan (2:51)
Okay.
Katherine Ryan (2:52)
My husband and I were having domestic dispute because he pissed me off in Spain and I flew home alone.
Romesh Ranganathan (2:59)
Yes.
Katherine Ryan (2:59)
Which is growth for me as a co-dependent person. Sure. And I felt like such a absolute G flying home on that easy jet.
Romesh Ranganathan (3:08)
How many follow up questions can ask you about this? Was it a complete surprise that you flew home?
Katherine Ryan (3:12)
Yeah. But it's been coming a long time. And I sent him a selfie of myself like this.
And he woke up to that photo on his phone.
Romesh Ranganathan (3:21)
So he went to bed believing that you were going to be there when he woke up.
Katherine Ryan (3:27)
He came in at like six in the morning. I waited, I fumed from like midnight till six.
Romesh Ranganathan (3:32)
What does you fuming look like? Do you get angry? Like really angry?
Katherine Ryan (3:38)
I don't shout. I don't really emote.
But like in the inside, I have an autoimmune disease, so I think that's where it lives.
Romesh Ranganathan (3:45)
Yeah.
Katherine Ryan (3:46)
Just inside like ruminating. I was just plotting and planning. This is when I had time to pack my bag, hide it in the hotel wardrobe, book the flight. I was like plotting, I was thinking of my revenge. Then he came in and he'd had a lot of fun. It was our friend's wedding, but he's more fun than I am.
