It's The Totally Football Show, European edition.
Bundesliga is back. There's a 5-1 in Munich, I guess who, and we find out who are the Elversbergers. Nothing to do with the king on the John. Italy, Cornwall Seahattie, as CES Sexy Lakemen down Napoli, and Florence not in goal, as Fiorentina cannot score and have already shipped seven. France on pole in Monaco and PSG in the pits. What's going on in Ligue 1? It's all in this Totally Football Show.
Well, it's Monday, the 31st of August, and it's a special IR Rail edition, Totally Football Show European edition. Yes. Because here in the studio, James Horncastle back from Italy. Tom Williams is here with us.
**Tom Williams** (0:58)
Hello from the studio, James.
**James Richardson** (0:59)
Hello to you from the other side of the table. And in the flesh, Seb Stafford-Bloor.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:05)
Hello, James.
**James Richardson** (1:06)
Hi, Seb. What brought you over?
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:09)
Trust of Deadline Day, see a few people, a bit of a change of scenery.
**James Richardson** (1:12)
Nice. Are we a few people?
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:14)
No, you don't really can. I mean, your acquaintance is, and I am literally going to see you.
**Tom Williams** (1:17)
No attempt to soften the blow there, is it?
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:19)
No, no, no, no. Clip that up. When I talk about coming over here for this, I talk about it as a single entity rather than, I'm coming over to podcast rather than I'm coming over to see James, James and Tom.
**James Horncastle** (1:31)
Right.
**James Horncastle** (1:32)
Doing you a favor.
**James Horncastle** (1:33)
Since you're here. Since you're here. I'm getting ideas.
**Tom Williams** (1:35)
This is purely professional.
**James Richardson** (1:37)
You can tell us about some Bundesliga later on, because I sure can.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:40)
It's back.
**James Richardson** (1:41)
It's back.
Also, you had a lovely sit down. I thought it was lovely anyway, with that Harry Kane.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:49)
Yeah. When you said sit down, I went Sopranos mentally.
**James Richardson** (1:54)
Why? What do they do? I don't know.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (1:55)
I mean, I-
**Tom Williams** (1:57)
Organized a sit down with Johnny Slack.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (2:00)
Our families are feuding. We need to have a sit down.
**Tom Williams** (2:03)
Harry, you're in a great run of fun. You got through some of your goals.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (2:07)
But I did. Yes. I sat down literally and spoke with Harry Kane about some of his goals and says, Right.
**James Richardson** (2:13)
How was that? By the way, the piece is out now on, meanwhile on this, the kids.
**Tom Williams** (2:18)
I love the way you shift the ball here, from your left foot to your right. Talk us through that in your own time.
**James Richardson** (2:24)
So you can hear Harry. Disappointingly, he doesn't speak anything like that.
Yeah, and she can probably, I don't know if we're sure we're putting clips there, but you've got the interview up already. I didn't manage to read everything because it just dropped just before we came in the studio. But it's, no, you're just so cynical. I read, I would think, it's quite long.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (2:43)
It is quite long.
**James Richardson** (2:44)
It is quite long. I read quite a lot of it. For example, the whole Dr. Congo goal business.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (2:48)
Yes.
**James Richardson** (2:48)
And then he breaks down the Dears assist in the game against Paris Saint-Germain. And it was really fascinating to hear him talk because Kane's not somebody who, at least to my mind in post-game interviews, for example, necessarily seems like he wants to open up that much.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (3:04)
No.
**James Richardson** (3:05)
But in here, with your magic touch.
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (3:07)
Well, it was one of those where you just turn on the recorder and get out of the way because he was great. I think sometimes what you see on television is what you get if you're asked quite mundane questions. Whereas, walked in and-
**James Horncastle** (3:19)
What's your assessment of that performance, Harry?
**Seb Stafford-Bloor** (3:22)
But this is the thing.
I said to him, there's no video element to this interview. We're just going to talk about some football. We're just going to show you some clips. He lit up. He was great.
What you realize is at the very top of the game, these guys are craftsmen because the level of detail with which they think about the game, how much they process every split second with what's happening around them and their periphery. You mentioned the Diaz goal and the Part de France. The things that happen in two or three seconds in a professional footballer's brain are mind-blowing. I was on TFC this morning talking about this and I can't type and take phone calls at the same time.
