I don't really care what people think about me anymore. And obviously, you want them to respect you, but there is a freedom of expression, of thought, of getting out of your comfort zone, that in the past, you start going, wait, second guessing everything, or maybe I'm not saying this the right way, or maybe this opinion isn't well formulated. I don't do that anymore with stuff.
And I love that. Now, it's not a complete disregard, and I'll just say whatever I want to say, but I'm not consumed as so many people are in being interesting. I'm much more consumed with being interested.

Okay, welcome back or welcome to the Finding Mastery podcast. I'm Michael Gervais, and by Trade in Training, a sport and performance psychologist, as well as the co-founder of Compete to Create. And the whole idea behind these conversations, behind this podcast is to learn from people who are switched on and understand and have a point of view and have dedicated their life efforts to exploring mastery. We wanna dig in these conversations to understand, like how do they organize their inner world? How do they organize their outer life to line those two things up towards the things that matter most to them, whether that's mastery of self or mastery of craft. And along the way, we're working to understand the mental skills that they've used to build and refine that craft.
I wanna take a minute here to announce a really exciting event that we have coming up. As you continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2024, I wanna pose a question. What are you doing right now to be great with stress? How are you working with stress on your pursuit towards your most important ambitions and goals? And I just wanna get right to the heart of the key elements, one in particular, for what it takes to excel in today's high heat, high stakes world. Now, this week's conversation is with Julie Foudy, a former captain of the USA Women's Soccer Team, the Olympic and World Cup teams. And Julie has had a sensational soccer career while playing on the US. National Team for 17 years. She was a captain for 13 of those years, three-time Olympian with two gold medals and one silver, played in four World Cups, winning two of them. And I shouldn't say she won them. She was part of a team, an instrumental part of the team. So the team won them and she was a massive contributor to those wins.
