Joe Rogan (0:02)

Three, two, one.

And we're live? We're live! What's up, brother?

Jorge Masvidal (0:15)

What's up?

Joe Rogan (0:16)

Dude, how are you?

We got you in here finally, man. How many times we have to talk about this? Several, right?

Jorge Masvidal (0:23)

A lot, this was the universe wanted it right now.

Joe Rogan (0:25)

The universe made it happen after the Till victory. That was, for a lot of people, a big coming out party for you.

Jorge Masvidal (0:32)

Was it?

Joe Rogan (0:33)

Yeah.

Jorge Masvidal (0:33)

I thought I was.

Joe Rogan (0:33)

Yeah, you were already out, but that was like holy shit. The way you put him out, that was a holy shit moment.

Jorge Masvidal (0:41)

I was going for that moment. That's what I was trying to do.

I knew a decision wasn't going to come my way that way. Not to say nothing about the English, but I don't like the judging over there. I've seen a lot of decisions go like super crooked.

Joe Rogan (0:54)

I don't like decisions in almost every state. I mean, there's decisions in almost every athletic commission that you just shake your head at and you don't understand.

Jorge Masvidal (1:04)

What's the worst one you could think of?

Joe Rogan (1:06)

I don't know. I don't know. I'd have to sit back and go over the archives, but I've seen some horrible ones.

Even ones where guys win, they like barely win. You're like, how the fuck was that close?

Jorge Masvidal (1:16)

Like 29, 28

Joe Rogan (1:18)

Yeah, that kind of shit. And you're like, what round? Yeah, there's a lot of those.

Jorge Masvidal (1:21)

It's getting better though, because more fighters every day are joining that force. You know, I see or I hear about fighters that used to fight that are involved in the commissions, at least like in Florida and stuff. So I know 10 years from now, there's going to be nothing but productive people and there are people that know what they're looking at.

Joe Rogan (1:35)

We can only hope. I mean, that's the number one problem. I think the scoring system sucks too.

Like adopting the 10-9, even the new improved scoring system, it's like MMA is so much different than boxing. And to adopt this scoring system just because it already existed for boxing, that's like adopting the rules of tennis for ping pong. Like the different things.

Jorge Masvidal (1:54)

It's a mafia.

Joe Rogan (1:56)

Is it what it is?

Jorge Masvidal (1:56)

The boxing thing.

Why is a boxing commission governing the MMA commission? Shouldn't we have our own thing?

Joe Rogan (2:03)

I think in some places, they just didn't have the infrastructure.

Jorge Masvidal (2:07)

Nowadays, we could do it, I'm sure.

Joe Rogan (2:08)

Nowadays, for sure. Yeah, in most places.

But yeah, it's, I mean, time to change. I mean, you've been around for a long time, my friend. I remember the first time I ever saw you fight, it was a backyard bare-knuckle fight in the Kimbo slice days. That was the first time I heard about you. And then I saw you fight Eve Edwards in Bodog.

I remember Bodog fight. Yeah.

Jorge Masvidal (2:29)

Those are golden ages.

Joe Rogan (2:30)

The golden ages, man.

Damn, it's crazy. Like, Bodog fight was a fun organization. Cain Velasquez fought there. Chael Sonnen fought there.

Jorge Masvidal (2:38)

Eddie Alvarez.

Joe Rogan (2:40)

That's right. Yeah. Fador. Fador had a fight over there.

Jorge Masvidal (2:43)

Fador had a fight over there. Brad Pickett as well.

Joe Rogan (2:45)

Yeah.

Jorge Masvidal (2:47)

Mike Brown.

Joe Rogan (2:48)

Yeah, what happened with them? They went under because of the whole gambling rules online changed, right?

Jorge Masvidal (2:54)

Not from what I heard. From what I heard was the spending budget. This is what I heard.

Calvin Air, that was the owner of Bodog, right? He put up this huge budget. And these are just rumors from what I heard from the people working, you know? But it was like $100 million for XYZ amount of years to get them publicity so people would see the fights and then go to the casino. And that $100 million got blown out like in two, three years is what I heard.

Oh. And I wouldn't disagree because they used to pay me really good and give us super perks. They used to give us some super perks, you know?

Take us to exotic locations to fight, be there for two weeks. You plus two, they'd fly out, take care of you. They really, really took very good care of you. So when I heard that they blew out 100 million in three years, I was like, yeah, it could be, you know?
