Train by day, Joe Rogan Podcast by night, all day.
We were supposed to be doing the first of all, thank you to Red Band for saving the day. If it wasn't for you.
Mikey Musumeci (0:23)
Once again.
Joe Rogan (0:23)
Yeah, you saved the day with Kanye, and you saved the day with Mikey Musumeci. So, Jamie got the cooties, ladies and gentlemen, again.
Mikey Musumeci (0:32)
Again.
Joe Rogan (0:32)
For the second time. He looks great. He doesn't seem like he's that sick.
So we're stuffing them full of IV vitamins out there. And so you've had COVID how many times?
Mikey Musumeci (0:41)
I think two or three times now.
Joe Rogan (0:43)
Two or three? Did you get tested?
Mikey Musumeci (0:44)
I got tested two of them, so for sure two, but I think I had it three.
Joe Rogan (0:48)
The third time you think you had it? Yeah.
Mikey Musumeci (0:50)
Delta was the worst one, though.
Joe Rogan (0:51)
Did you get it bad?
Mikey Musumeci (0:53)
I could barely walk from Delta. Like a good month of dying.
Joe Rogan (1:00)
Really?
Wow. Well, you were probably training the whole time, weren't you?
Mikey Musumeci (1:04)
I was training during the Omicron one, but the Delta one, my muscles, I couldn't lift my arms and legs. It got really bad.
Joe Rogan (1:12)
Wow. That's crazy, because you're in really good shape, and you're young.
Mikey Musumeci (1:15)
Yeah, I run six miles every morning, and I could barely walk a mile when I had it.
Joe Rogan (1:20)
Wow. So it got you hard.
Mikey Musumeci (1:22)
Really messed me up. Yeah.
Joe Rogan (1:24)
Do you think you were getting it, and then you kept working out, and it got worse? Was it one of those deals?
Mikey Musumeci (1:28)
I think so, but I think the residual effects of it from after being sick or what messed me up, like with the muscles, felt like my body was decomposing. Yeah.
Joe Rogan (1:39)
How long did it take for you fully got over it?
Mikey Musumeci (1:42)
A few months, like completely, like where my body didn't feel messed up.
Joe Rogan (1:46)
So did you take any medication while you had it? Were you on anything?
Mikey Musumeci (1:50)
No, just-
Joe Rogan (1:51)
Just your immune system?
Mikey Musumeci (1:53)
Yeah, just drinking a lot of water, a lot of sauna. And like-
Joe Rogan (1:57)
Just dealing with it.
Mikey Musumeci (1:58)
Yeah.
Joe Rogan (1:59)
Yeah, that's not the best strategy.
Mikey Musumeci (2:01)
Yeah.
Joe Rogan (2:02)
I think vitamins are very important to deal with it, but if you can get access to monoclonal antibodies, that's really the best way to handle it.
Mikey Musumeci (2:10)
Yeah, because I had the vaccine three times and I still got it really bad. So-
Joe Rogan (2:14)
Wow.
Mikey Musumeci (2:15)
Yeah.
Joe Rogan (2:15)
Damn.
It's a tricky disease. So anyway, Jamie, who has successfully avoided it for 21 months, he got it, and he's had very strong antibodies this entire time, but then we just got back from Vegas for the UFC and we did a big show out there and he got the cooties.
Mikey Musumeci (2:36)
Yeah. When I was in Singapore, I had to get tested like every week because I was going to Indonesia a lot in Malaysia, so I knew I didn't have it at least during that time.
Joe Rogan (2:46)
So when you were, what are you doing in Singapore? You were training in Singapore and living in Singapore?
Mikey Musumeci (2:50)
Yeah. So the last four months, I've been living in Singapore.
I moved there to train at Evolve, which is the most, the coolest gym I've ever been in my life.
Joe Rogan (3:00)
Yeah.
Mikey Musumeci (3:01)
It's huge and like the facility is amazing and I moved there because I wanted to train and see Shatri, the owner of ONE Championship.
I met him one time and he was like the most amazing person I've met and like he's a true martial artist. He loves jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and what he stands for with martial arts. Like it really moved me and it was, I moved to Singapore, it changed continents and I've been living there the last four years.
Joe Rogan (3:32)
For four years?
Mikey Musumeci (3:32)
No, four months.
Joe Rogan (3:34)
Oh, okay. For four months.
So for four months, like how do you live out there? Like what are you doing?
Mikey Musumeci (4:07)
Oh, okay.
I love learning about cultures and I'm learning Indonesia also. Really? Yeah. Is that the language they speak in Singapore? They speak Malay, but Indonesia's right ire also, so setakataku Bel collapse Indonesia. I taught myself Portuguese. How did you do that? So, I just used Google Translate for so many years that I learned Portuguese that way.
