Joe Rogan (0:03)

The Joe Rogan Experience. Legends of tattooing, he's one of the biggest.

Marlon Vera (0:23)

Yeah, we did one sit and that was painful. I kicked my ass.

Joe Rogan (0:30)

Is the back more painful than the arms?

Marlon Vera (0:32)

Oh, yeah.

Joe Rogan (0:33)

Really?

Marlon Vera (0:33)

The arms are easy.

Joe Rogan (0:35)

Yeah, the arms are pretty easy.

Marlon Vera (0:36)

I basically, you feel it, but you're not crying on my back.

Joe Rogan (0:41)

You're crying?

Marlon Vera (0:42)

There was, not crying, but about to. There were points that my arm was shaking.

Joe Rogan (0:46)

Really?

Marlon Vera (0:47)

Without me moving it.

Joe Rogan (0:49)

Wow.

See, it's weird what parts hurt, because the elbow hurts a lot. Like the inside of the elbow, that shit hurts a lot. I was like, I thought that was numb, because you think about how many times you hit things with your elbows, it doesn't hurt at all.

Marlon Vera (1:04)

I crack heads with elbows, but the little ink, it will make you pay. It's crazy.

Joe Rogan (1:10)

It's weird.

Marlon Vera (1:11)

I have my full leg, a dragon, top to bottom of my leg. That's also awful.

Joe Rogan (1:17)

Really? Leg is awful?

Marlon Vera (1:19)

Like some parts in the tide where the sun doesn't go.

Joe Rogan (1:24)

Where the sun doesn't go.

Marlon Vera (1:27)

You know what's funny about my leg tattoo? When this guy was tattooing my inner thigh, he was pushing my balls aside so he can ink.

Joe Rogan (1:38)

Right.

Marlon Vera (1:38)

And I was like...

Joe Rogan (1:39)

He's touching your balls.

Marlon Vera (1:41)

Kind of. He was pushing them away.

Joe Rogan (1:42)

Well, he's touching them.

Marlon Vera (1:45)

A little bit. You know what's the crazy part? When I was there, I was just like...

Because normally I get tattooed right after a fight, because that's my rest time. And I was just thinking, this is painful, this is awkward. I was just thinking about what's worse, the guy pushing my dick away or the pain right there, because it was so painful that I was like, wow, I'm hurt.

Joe Rogan (2:08)

Well, the guy pushing your dick away is just weird. That's not painful, right?

Marlon Vera (2:12)

It's not painful, but it's very weird. It's painful in a way.

Joe Rogan (2:16)

It's weird if it feels good. You're like, damn, this is enjoyable.

Marlon Vera (2:20)

Yeah, you just start going like... You don't want that.

Joe Rogan (2:23)

Well, maybe you do.

Marlon Vera (2:25)

No, it doesn't happen.

Joe Rogan (2:26)

Not for you, but for some people.

Marlon Vera (2:28)

It happens. But I was like, that, it was painful and awkward. That was hard.

I was just like, please finish that part quick.

Joe Rogan (2:39)

So who did your leg?

Marlon Vera (2:40)

This guy called Mark Nava.

He's really good in Japanese style. And he's a mile from my house in Costa Mesa.

Joe Rogan (2:48)

Costa Mesa, that whole Los Angeles, that whole Southern California area is amazing for tattoos.

Marlon Vera (2:55)

I've been lucky most of my tattoos. You know, some people got some tattoos that they just get it because they want tattoos and they're shit. Yeah, I'm lucky. Even everything I got in Ecuador is just clean and it's all what I want.

Joe Rogan (3:09)

How much of it did you get in Ecuador?

Marlon Vera (3:11)

I get basically all this arm. Mark Nava did just the snake and the spider in the back. Then the rest is all in Ecuador.

All this arm is in Ecuador, besides the hand. This is Sean Topper, another good guy around the Costa Mesa area. Then my back, Mr. Cartoon.

Joe Rogan (3:31)

Having a back piece like your back piece, we just filmed it. We just took a video before the podcast. But Mr. Cartoon, that guy is a legend.

Marlon Vera (3:42)

Of all my tattoos, that's number one.

Joe Rogan (3:45)

How hard was it to get in with him?

Marlon Vera (3:48)

Well, every time... He works with the Ruca, with the brand. So he comes visit Pat all the time. So every time he comes around, I'm like, come on, dude.

Get me in. And he's pretty chill, you know? Is he? Yeah, he's pretty cool. And then he's like, okay, talk to my assistant.

And I just rushed the fuck out of this guy. I'm like, yo, get me in. And basically, he wasn't tattooing during the pandemic. He wasn't doing nothing.

Joe Rogan (4:17)

Really?

Marlon Vera (4:18)

And I was his first tattoo back. Oh, wow.
