Another day, another injury for the Denver Broncos. Before I tell you everything that happened on the Broncos' eighth day of training camp practice, make sure to like this video, subscribe to this channel. We are here every single day, and let's dive in to everything you need to know about Broncos' day eight of training camp, and it starts with bad news. JK Dobbins, the starting running back for the Broncos, jogged off the field midway through practice on Monday, with trainers following him, and he did not return to the practice field. After practice, Sean Payton announced that Dobbins has a soft tissue injury, and Payton said, quote, I believe he's going to be fine. We're just being smart with it. So maybe some good news to end that with Broncos thinking that he is going to be fine. The way he ran off the field made it seem like it wasn't a very, very serious injury, but anytime JK Dobbins and injury are in the same sentence, it's something that everyone has to be concerned about. So we're gonna continue to follow this storyline through practice tomorrow, Wednesday, and then the Broncos have their first preseason game on Friday. I wouldn't be shocked if he practices tomorrow or Wednesday, and I'd be even more shocked if he plays in the game on Friday. So the goal now is to get JK Dobbins fully healthy for week one. RJ Harvey stepped up in Dobbins' role in practice, and after practice, Bo Nix praised the jump that RJ has taken from a rookie to year two.
Really impressed with the jump that RJ has taken, and I'll tell you what, he had a big role in practice today. And speaking of the soft tissue injuries, the Broncos are concerned with the number of soft tissue injuries the team has suffered through the first two weeks of training camp. So they're actually changing some ways they are approaching practice. On Monday, the team stretched at the end of practice, which is something that they have not done in practice until today. I give credit to Sean Payton and this Broncos coaching staff and training staff and Bo Lowry for not waiting until after the season to change things. They're changing things right now. Remember, the Broncos, one of the healthiest teams in the NFL, since Sean Payton got here three years ago, and that was coming off the Nathaniel Hackett year, where the Broncos are one of the most injured teams in the NFL. So Sean Payton knows how to deal with injuries. Stuff's popping up now more than it really ever has under Sean's watch, and he's taking control and action right now. So I give him a lot of credit for doing that, and hopefully, the Broncos' injuries start going away. There was positive injury news today. While Dobbins' injury was a blow to Denver's offense, there was positive news to start the week. Ennio Wazarikay and Nate Atkins left practice a couple of days ago, but they were back on the practice field and practicing with the team throughout practice. That's great news. Marvin Mims Jr. and Luke Wattenberg took encouraging steps to returning to practice. Both were wearing pads and participated in the stretching portion of practice before sitting out the rest of practice. Well, they're not full participants by any means in practice. It's still an encouraging sign in their return. And Jordan Turner practiced for the first time this training camp as he was removed from the NFI list. So good to see that young running back or that young inside linebacker back on the field. Before I tell you what went down on the field, make sure to like and subscribe this video, this channel. We appreciate the support. We think that we give you the best Broncos news all year around. Another day, another good day for Denver's dominant defense. While Davis Webb's offense started solid on the ground and Nick started hot in the air, the defense punchback is practice progressed. The first two periods were focused on running the ball. Broncos ground game had more success than they've had the first week of camp with pads on. Although there weren't big time runs by the running backs, Dobbins and Harvey, before Dobbins got hurt, consistently picked up yards on the ground. Then Nix had the run of the day by taking a keeper to the left side and blazing by the corner of the line to run for what would have been a 20-yard gain or so. His speed was evident there, no issues with the ankle. And then Nix started well throwing the ball through the air. After missing his first pass of the day, Nix connected on three straight passes. The first and third went to Pat Bryant, who Bo threw a perfect touch pass for a 20-yard gain to Pat. It looked like it was going to be picked off, but nope, Bo just dropped it right in the bucket for Pat. The other was a short completion to Pat Bryant. And then the second play was to Cortland Sutton for a 30-yard gain on a beautiful back shoulder pass. It was picture perfect throw, picture perfect catch, and move by Cortland to get open at the last second. And then Chris Abrams-Drain wasn't really good coverage. Cortland and Bo just made a better catch and throw.
