One of the funny ones. Not all comedians are funny. No, I- But Jim is funny.

**Jim Jefferies** (1:03)
I try to be funny. I try, I'm old school like that.

**Adam Carolla** (1:07)
Yeah, I mean, a lot of comedians try to be funny.
I don't know, is it a thing where just a lot of people, there's too many people trying to do something and they're not being, like here's what I'm saying, here's what I'm saying. Everyone in America, let's say grows up and they dream of playing shortstop for the Yankees. But they get weeded out and by the time they get to high school, 93% of them don't have a shot and by the time they graduate high school, less than 1.0, you know, whatever.

**Jim Jefferies** (1:39)
That's the thing in moneyball. Everyone is told when they have to stop playing baseball. It's one of those sports that you like. If you even play rugby, you can play against other old blokes playing rugby. But baseball, you can't hit a round ball with a round bat.
If it's coming at you over 80 miles an hour.

**Adam Carolla** (1:53)
They never throw you out of comedy.

**Jim Jefferies** (1:55)
They never throw you out of comedy. You can just go to smaller and smaller rooms and find more.

**Adam Carolla** (1:59)
Or not even start. I mean, not even have. It's not even like you had a career. What I'm saying is, is like, it's like everybody at once wanting to play shortstop for the Yankees.
But most of the people on that field don't belong there.

**Jim Jefferies** (2:15)
I think there's a few pro... Okay, I'm a big fan of Jim Carrey, but I really don't like when I get an inspirational speech from him put through my feed on Instagram. And it's always him at university going, you got to keep following your dreams. Because my father, he could have been a comedian, but he chose a sensible job. And then he still got fired from that job.
Jim Carrey is a generational talent. He shouldn't be telling people to follow their dreams. We should be hearing from people who failed at comedy, not from people who are successful.

**Adam Carolla** (2:49)
You are a generational talent and you have some sort of ability that I could never possess when you do impressions of people. And not only do you sound like the person, your face changes to look like the person you're doing the impression of. Which is a weird thing because I get the tone. I get the voice.

**Jim Jefferies** (3:09)
You're talking about Jim Carrey doing impressions, not me, right?

No, sorry. Because that was a terrible Jim Carrey impersonation. I hope you weren't complimenting.

**Adam Carolla** (3:16)
His face starts to look like you'll see guys that are good and they go into their dinero and their face turns into dinero.

So yes, he's generational and no, other people should stop following their dreams. And also the self-esteem movement has been a fucking unmitigated disaster, trying to talk every 11-year-old in America into thinking they're the greatest, has fucked up our society badly, as it would.

Of course it would. Well, I'll tell you what though, there is a little bit of our generation bullshit about one thing. I'll tell you what we lie about.
Every time that young people get some award or something like that, they go, oh, they get an award just for participating. Back in my day, you only got an award if you actually won the game. I didn't get trophies. I was terrible at sport. I went back to my home, like childhood home. Trophies everywhere in the room for participation. We all got participation trophies.
