I'm so happy to be on On Purpose.

I want to start with a really important question that I feel, this generation, the people that I'm surrounded by struggle with the most. What are we getting wrong about manifestation?

**Jim Curtis** (2:56)
Isn't that a popular word because we're all suffering so much that we're constantly looking to the future of what we want outside of us.
So what I think we're getting wrong about manifestation is that it's really an inside job. Two things, the realization that we're already it. We are the I am. All we have to start saying is I am what we want and it comes.
This is the I am that I am, the I am principle, the identity idea. So the second part is there are assumptions about our identity, the assumptions of who we believe we are. So we can't manifest before we start to get to the law of assumption that says how do I change what I truly believe that I am so that I can have it? Instead, what we're getting wrong about manifestation is like I want to be a millionaire. Instead, we haven't changed the assumption of whether I believe that I'm worthy of it or capable of it first. So start with the law of assumption. We have to realize and build awareness of what we believe, who we believe and what we think we are, the identity.

**Jay Shetty** (4:02)
It's interesting, isn't it? When you say that, I think about all the assumptions I've had about myself growing up, and the assumptions I hear from other people.
Oh, I'm just not that smart. Oh, it takes me a long time to learn certain things. Oh, yeah, I was never good with money or whatever it may be. We say these things and their assumptions. Where did these assumptions come from? We almost feel like that's just who I am. That's just the way I am.

**SPEAKER_3** (4:27)
Where did it come from?

**Jim Curtis** (4:28)
All of our assumptions come from two places. One, you can start to think, is this mine or is this genetic? Was this passed down from my father or mother's fears? And did they pass this down into something, some type of protection within my genes that I'm now acting out? Or two, was this learned? Was this a learned pattern from my mother and father? Did they say all these things that I in my theta state, children are in this theta state, they're sponged, they're absorbing everything, theta brainwave frequency state. So from zero to seven years old, you're absorbing everything. You're absorbing assumptions about yourself based on what your parents are saying. My father used to say, don't worry, you don't have to be that smart, you just have to work twice as hard.
