We're technically not doing a forging table right now, but I will say the moment you knocked on the door, I had an immediate rush of anxiety, because it was like whenever the principal called the classroom, and they asked for Kyle Thompson to come down, he was like, I'm gonna go to the bathroom.
I'm not gonna go. I'm not gonna go.
Thank you. I'm gonna put it up, it was like, I kind of felt. Like, I was in trouble, so what's going on here?

**Jay Risner** (1:19)
Oh, I don't know. Maybe there's something.
What's down deep there that we need to get into?

**Kyle Thompson** (1:23)
Yeah, see, that's a reverse psychology thing that I don't appreciate very much, because, you know.
Because I have admitted to things that I did wrong when I wasn't being accused of that thing before because of the guilty conscience. I don't have anything right now, but they're There are times. when people bring things up to me where I'm just like, oh, okay.

**Jay Risner** (1:39)
Well, I assure you, I come in peace. This is gonna be a great time.

**Kyle Thompson** (1:43)
Okay, yeah, I'm hoping we have a good time. And so, and you're already doing a better job than Ryan Horn than to actually talking into the mic because that guy will just trail off into the ether and all kinds of things. Like, I don't know why he's still around. He's kind of like that dog that you find in the country and then you bring him to your house and he just kind of hangs around the barn. But eventually you're just like, is this thing ever gonna move on? And the guy just won't. He's just, he's kind of sticky.

**Jay Risner** (2:06)
But he's that lovable, too. Yeah, I get it.

**Kyle Thompson** (2:10)
He needs a little bit more of the lovable part of his life. But no, one of the main reasons that I wanted to kind of bring you in is because we had Mark Hitchcock on earlier this year, everybody kind of, they really enjoyed that conversation kind of getting into his brain. Obviously the extemporaneous speaking thing, like seeing him in a non-sermon setting was like odd, but our audience has already seen you in a non-sermon setting.
Didn't I make you wear like a Santa hat or something like that?

Yeah, we ate Little Debbie's, yeah, it was a thing.

Don't worry, I don't have any of those.

I'm not gonna pull those out.

Smelling salts were a part of that. I do have those. I'm good. You're heart passing?

I'm good, yep.

But wanted to kind of get to know your background a little bit more. We talked about that a little bit on the forging table. And then there's some really interesting things that are coming up for Faith Bible, especially in this era of kind of mixed churches where it's like, okay, we're just gonna keep buying real estate with cash and taking advantage of the tax exempt status and we're gonna keep building these churches, keep building these screens and all that type of thing. And y'all are kind of going a different route. And you did talk about this a little bit on the forging table, but like becoming a pastor isn't...
I don't really run into too many people that, oh, ever since I was a little boy, I always knew I would be a pastor, unless it's like my buddy Josh Howardson, whose dad was a pastor. Some of these other people are like, well, actually, yeah, like watching my dad travel and preach the gospel or do whatever, I just knew that's what I wanted to do. But that wasn't really your route. And so like bit of a circuitous route to get you into pastoring. And so I'm just wondering like, let's just start there and then we'll build out.
