Hello and welcome to Dopey, the podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. My name is Dave and how are you guys doing? I'm doing pretty good. I think we need so many things. I love just coming on and asking for shit. It's like I'm a total beggar. I've been a beggar my whole life. You know that? When I was a kid in high school, I would wander around the courtyard in our high school. I would be like, can you give me a dollar?
I would beg off kids in school. And I shouldn't laugh about it. I didn't have any shame.
I'm only developing some shame now at age 52 And not a lot, just a tiny little bit of shame, a healthy dose of shame. How are you guys doing? Send in an email or a voicemail to dopeypodcast at gmail.com. And let me know. Let me know how you guys are doing. It is another fantastic day in recovery. Summer is ending. Is it time to put the shorts away? Is it the end? Is this it? September, today for me is September 15th. The autumn wind grows chilly and cold.
The summer just flew by in Dopey. I'm in that crazy pre-DopeyCon mode. Are you guys coming to DopeyCon?
Tickets are selling.
It looks like it's gonna be a packed sellout full house. So if you wanna be a part of the scene, and it will be a scene at DopeyCon, go buy tickets. And what I really need is a four-minute, super fiery drug story. If you guys listen to the show, you know what a good voicemail sounds like. So why are you all sending in, as my dearly departed mother would say, Drek, can't you send in the fire? Doesn't anybody have a good fucking drug story? Weren't any of you guys in detox or rehab where you had to tell stupid stories?
I should make a fucking voicemail for Dopey. I mean, you've heard all my stories, but maybe if I made it like a Dopey voicemail, you guys would know what to do.
Also, I don't know why, but we've decided to bring back the Dopey theme song challenge. If you want, and the fucking Cormac, I don't know if you remember Cormac. Cormac's been around the show since the first year, I think. Cormac is like a genius. He is one of these people that's great at most of the things he does. And he built a Dopey pedal. It's beautiful. I posted on Instagram. And if you, I should enter, I'm going to enter the fucking Dopey theme song challenge to win the pedal. I just made this decision. I think I'm going to do a parody of Phil Collins against the odds, against all odds. Take a look at me now. I've been working on it, but I have got a lot of workshopping to do with the lyrics. Anyway, DopeyCon tickets are on sale. You go get them. If you are a patron, a patron, patron, patron, you save 15 bucks. We're going to serve cats is there. There's going to be Janie's life changing baked goods there. Delicious. I haven't decided on the Othello.
I've taken a different approach to DopeyCon this year. And we're going to see how it turns out. Proof is in the pudding, I suppose. Proof is in the pudding. Today, we have a very special guest. We have a returning movie star guest, Jason Biggs.
It's an honor when Jason Biggs comes to my dad's house. He's a sweet, sweet ray of sunshine. He didn't commit to doing DopeyCon. So I would imagine he's not doing DopeyCon, but you never know. He's in the neighborhood. Maybe he'll swing through. If you guys need Fentanyl test strips or Narcan, we will happily send them out to you for free. Just send in a note to dopeypodcast.gmail.com.
We have one item in the Dopey merch store. Merch. You want merch to have a soft S-H sound. Merch. But it's merch. Anyway, we've got a really cool one item in the Dopey merch store. It's only gonna be there for another 15 days. So get it while it's there at dopeypodcast.com. I'm not gonna ask for anything else. I'm gonna play a voicemail. We got this voicemail from Dylan.

Hey, Dave. Hey, Dopey Nation. This is Dylan. And I was listening to episode 96 today, in which you had a conversation with Tracy Mitchell, the author of Hope After Heroin. And in that, you discussed a little bit, like the contrast of being a junkie and then to being a parent. And my second year is definitely highlighted that as a parent and a former drug addict, alcoholic.
