Jarrad Schofield, of course, gun footballer with West Coast, gun footballer with Port Adelaide Premiership player with Port Adelaide Premiership coach a number of times at Subiaco. He joins us on the show. Jarrad, welcome.

Thanks for having me, Duff.

Mate, eight point winners over West Perth on the weekend. How did you get the win?

**Jarrad Schofield** (1:32)
Yeah, we were very lucky in the end. To be honest, we wouldn't say we played our best football, but taking nothing away from West Perth, they played a fantastic brand, and we just fell short in a lot of areas. But at the end of the day, we were able to kick truly, and kicking 18 goals 8, I think it was in the end, is probably the best efficiency we've had all year on the scoreboard. So in the end, they probably got us across the line.

**Mark Duffield** (1:55)
You are fifth, you are one percentage point ahead of East Perth, who are sixth. So your season is fairly finely balanced at the moment.

**Jarrad Schofield** (2:04)
Oh, definitely.
Every game, we have to go out there and treat it as obviously an eight-point game, because the competition is so tight. We've had four games this year where we've fallen short by under a kick. They could hopefully don't come back to haunt us later on the year. But for us, it's week to week. We've just got to make sure that we keep fronting up every week and put in the best performance possible to try and get the four points. And can't look any further than that week to week philosophy.

**Mark Duffield** (2:30)
Well, week to week philosophy. This week you got Peel, and Peel have been very strong this year. What's the challenge when you face Fremantle's Align team?

**Jarrad Schofield** (2:38)
Well, they're nice and fit and healthy, and they're humming at the moment.
They're really sort of putting teams to the sword. I think that most games have kicked over 100 points. I know when we played them last time, I think in round four or five, we had a one point victory in two of their prior games. So that only lost us by under a kick as well. And they've gone on to be undefeated in all the games since then. And as I said, they're a formidable outfit. They're fit and healthy. They play a good brand in all phases of the game. So they've really got their game in good order. But it's a great test for our fellows on the weekend down there at Peel.

**Mark Duffield** (3:13)
So when you play in a line club, is the brand of footy you face, is that a mirror image of the brand of footy they're trying to play at AFL level, or is it a little bit different to that?

**Jarrad Schofield** (3:25)
No, there's similarities for sure. Definitely similarities. It's like even at the WAFL teams, you know, you dare say your reserves are trying to play the same brand as your league team. So Peel are no different.
You know, obviously what probably breaks it down at some time is just that top end talent that you find at WAFL level that isn't at the same level as AFL level. But definitely a similar brand, how they move the ball, how they defend as well.
