Of course, you're angry about that situation. It's not fair, it's not cool. It's like life didn't treat you right in that aspect, but you still have so much in your life to be grateful for.
There's so much meaning still in life. There's so many blessings in your life, and that's where I never lose sight of that.

Right, welcome back or welcome to the Finding Mastery podcast. I'm Michael Gervais, and by trade and training, I'm a sport and performance psychologist, as well as the co-founder of Compete to Create. And the whole idea behind these conversations is to learn from people who are on the path of mastery. And who are they? Those are people who have dedicated their life to both craft and self, to understand the nuances of those two. And in these conversations, we want to dig to understand their psychological framework, which is how they understand themselves and the world, how they explain events. And then we want to understand the mental skills that they use to build and refine their craft.
Finding Mastery is brought to you by Neurohacker. There's a good chance that you're interested in aging well. And if that's the case for you, it's really important to understand a bit of the science behind aging. You might have heard about senescent cells, often referred to as zombie cells. These are old, worn out cells that linger in your body, consuming energy and nutrients without contributing to your health. So as you age, these cells accumulate, leading to common aging symptoms like decreased mental and physical energy, slower recovery from workouts, joint discomfort, less flexibility, and so on. So enter Qualia Senolytic by Neurohacker, a science-backed formula that is designed to help your body naturally eliminate these zombie cells. This formula includes a game-changing combination of ingredients that are aimed at extending your prime years, and they've made it really simple. You just take the product two days a month.
That's it. It's like a monthly cleanse for your cells.
So if you're interested in aging well, I really want to encourage you to check out Qualia Senolytic. Just head to neurohacker.com/findingmastery15 and enter the code findingmastery15, that's a 1-5, at checkout for an additional 15% off any purchase. Finding Mastery is brought to you by Facet. When we think about what it takes to thrive and to live a life of flourishing, there's no doubt that financial wellness is a big part of that equation.
There's lots of ways to manage your money, and here's one that you might be interested in.
Facet is the next generation of personalized financial planning. They're on a mission to make expert financial advice accessible to the masses.
So Facet provides you with flexible access to a team of financial planners and a team of experts across retirement planning, tax strategy, estate planning, and more.
And the best part here is that instead of taking a percentage of your portfolio, Facet only charges an affordable flat membership fee and doesn't charge you to invest with them. This is extremely rare for the industry. As you probably know, most financial advisors charge you a percentage of your assets. And even if it's only 1%, those fees can really add up over the course of your lifetime. And because you're listening to this podcast, Facet is hooking you up with a great offer. When you sign up today, Facet will waive the $250 enrollment fee for new annual members. And they have an epic limited-time offer on top of that. To learn more, just head to facet.com/fm. Again, this one is a little different. That's facet, facet.com/fm. To waive your enrollment fee and to learn more about their limited-time offer. A little disclosure here. Okay, this week's conversation is with Jake Olson. He's an entrepreneur, an athlete, a speaker, and most recently a graduate of the University of Southern California. He's young, but his insights are rich.
When Jake was eight months old, he was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer, retinoblastoma. The disease claimed his left eye at 10 months old, and in November of 2009, Jake lost his other eye battling cancer for 12 years. So he once had sight and now he doesn't. He's earned the right to understand the point of view of what it takes to adjust and adapt.
