Jack Viney to West Coast? Duff's Thoughts (29.09.2026)

So Viney met with West Coast and Eston last week, having been told by the Demons he can explore his options with two years left to go on his contract. My understanding is West Coast really impressed in that meeting, and has given him something really strongly to think about, and that it was an impressive pitch, an impressive way to go about it. Andrew McWalter with his links to Viney through Melbourne, and also former assistant coach at Melbourne, Sam Radford, who's running the midfield at West Coast. So that I think went really well, and they're absolutely in the mix now.

Absolutely in the mix. So there you go. So as we've said earlier, if Jack Viney is sound, and he can come and play for West Coast, that is a massive bonus for West Coast. It's a massive bonus for Harley Reid, because it gives him a strong body and a wise mind alongside him in the midfield. Like who will absorb some of the punishment that Harley's had to take largely on his own over the last couple of years, but also tap him on the shoulder every now and again, and say, hey mate, wind your neck in and get your mind back on the job. So I think that's a positive provided it is sound, and provided they do the due diligence on Jack's body. It's always a concern when you've got a guy who's 32 years old and has only played one game in the previous season. Now that was one injury.

And as Will Faulkner said, that was an Achilles. So hopefully he's gone past that now. But that would be the main thing. If he sounds, absolutely West Coast, go ahead and do it. Let's take a break.
