I'm Mike G with The War Rapport, and this is Kyle Rush from The Auburn Daily, and we are playing golf and talking to Auburn Football today.

Kyle Rush (0:21)

Yeah, we're here at the Auburn University Club. Starting off the back nine, number 10, we're going to get some golf in and have some fun.

Mike G (0:27)

It's a beautiful day out on the course today. I'm with Kyle from The Auburn Daily. Here, I'm excited about the game this weekend.

Kyle Rush (0:34)

Oh, man, it's a big one, dude. It feels like, I was asked, is this a make or break game or a must win? And I was like, I don't know if it's a must win, but I think for both programs, it's a launching pad, potential launching pad game.

So yeah, there's a lot of storylines. There's a lot riding on this.

Mike G (0:55)

I think Golesh really wants this one. I got that from this opening press conference.

Sounded good.

Kyle Rush (1:15)

I think we might have a putt at it.

Mike G (1:23)

Do it.

Kyle Rush (1:24)

Oh, see, it's a quick one.

Mike G (1:26)

That was so fast. That's a good putt.

Kyle Rush (1:32)

Good legs.

Mike G (1:33)

I pulled on the first hole. I'm going to try to get it. You know, hey.

She got it.

Kyle Rush (1:52)

I got it. There we go.

Mike G (1:57)

All right. Hey, thanks for my contribution. Thanks.

Kyle Rush (2:01)

Golesh would never admit this, but this one's got to be personal, right?

Mike G (2:04)

It feels personal to me. I mean, he legitimately cringed. When they asked him if John Somerall said they were friends, and I said, that sounds like somebody's lying.

Kyle Rush (2:19)

Well, it almost sounded like he was like, no. I'm shocked that he would even say that because we're not friends at all. That's almost what it felt like.

Mike G (2:28)

Well, I mean, Golesh, he cares. He cares a lot about what he's doing. I think that we would be naïve to think that the guy who practically had his job in his hands, that this is not a little bit personal, showing that he was the right pick all along.

Kyle Rush (2:44)

Exactly. I'm not just the backup playing. I'm the guy.

Mike G (2:48)

I'm the guy. Yeah. Yeah. I think that that's fair. And I think that at the end of the day, you've got to, if you don't have that kind of competitive fire and spirit, how can you expect your players to have it? Auburn could be 3-0 after Saturday, which would be, I think, a dream start for Golesh.

Kyle Rush (3:05)

No, man, I don't think you could draw it up any better. Like I said earlier, I think this is a launching pad game. And Auburn just needs to believe. Auburn guy, like Auburn players, we just need to believe that we go in and win, you know, a big time SEC game. So this is, this one's big.

Mike G (3:21)

Yeah, they've done a good job establishing that belief, I think. I like that he's not coming in here talking about rebuilds and recruiting and-

Kyle Rush (3:29)

Give me time, give me time.

Mike G (3:30)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, no time. Go win now. That's why you bring Byron Brown here. And I still don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

Kyle Rush (3:35)

No, no. And you saw his clock speed up a little bit from game one to game two. It's going to have to be a lot quicker, a lot more decisive, even even more so against Florida. But I think there's I think not only Golesh, but I think Byron wants this one, too. Byron wants to prove he can do it in the SEC.

And he's like, I've already beat this team once. Now I need to beat him again and show everybody it wasn't a fluke.

Mike G (3:59)

Yeah, yeah, he hasn't. I don't think he's done that through two games.

But this is the game. Now that it counts for real, you're in SEC play. Now is the chance to show you can play with the big boys. I think he shines. I think he steps up to the plate. I think we're on hole 11 now.

Kyle Rush (4:15)

Yeah, our second hole, hole 11, another par four, another dogway left. And instead of uphill, this one's downhill. So let's go see if we can get a birdie or hey, another par. I'll take another par.

Mike G (4:25)

Another par. A par it is. I think we're gonna shoot par on the day.
