What we've seen, and it's a common pattern, is when somebody gets has a difference of opinion, you're criticizing.

I've just started a basement project. We've used this example in our group. It's something that usually the Asperger's husband, leave me alone. But honey, you've never done this before. Yeah, I'll figure it out. Doesn't want to ask for help, doesn't want to do anything. So what I learned to do in this project is just come down and ask her for her opinion. Don't stay long, but ask her, does this door swing out, swing in? What color should this be?

He did this basement project.

So little things like that, I teach men.

I could just walk down there and be like, how's it going? And like, wow.

SPEAKER_3 (1:29)

What do you mean? Right. Why are you here?

Why are you disturbing what I'm doing?

SPEAKER_4 (1:34)

Right, why are you criticizing me? I'm not. So I, in our types of relationships, I've had to learn to ask less questions, less words, more words is not better for someone who's really literal and cannot emotionally regulate.

That's also an executive functioning issue or a way of thinking. So I just have to come off with one thing.
