Welcome back to The Bliss Business Podcast. I'm Tulio Sergusa. Today we're talking about something that quietly breaks trust in a lot of businesses. Companies spend a lot of time redefining how they go to market, what they say in the market, how they position themselves in the market, but far less time aligning how they operate internally and how they're organized internally in order to deliver on the promises they make into the market. They build a great story before they build the systems to support it. They update the websites, sharpen the pitch, create new sales decks, train salespeople, and they say, trust us, partner with us, we're innovative, we're customer first. But quite often inside the organization, inside the company, people are very unclear, siloed, reactive, and even afraid to escalate issues. The gap is expansive and expensive. You cannot market your way out of internal misalignment. Customers will experience the truth. They always experience the truth that is reflected, not from your messaging, but within your operating model. They will feel in response times. They will feel in how handoffs are taken care of. They feel it in the inconsistencies they experience. And they feel it when one department promises one thing, and another says, I can't deliver it. This is one of the core reasons Bliss matters. Bliss stands for Build Love Into Scalable Systems. See, Bliss creates coherence. It aligns what the business says with what teams do and what customers experience. And one of the key principles that helps with this is design thinking. Because design thinking helps here because it forces you to look at the full journey view of the customer. It does not ask only what message sounds good. It asks what the user actually experiences from beginning to end. Your customers are doing the same thing with your brand. They are judging their entire experience beginning to end. They're not judging on what you say. They're judging on whether you align with what you say. So here's a practical principle to remember. External trust cannot exceed internal trust for the long haul. Strong marketing can help generate attention. Strong sales can generate pipeline. Still, if internal trust is weak, the company eventually pays for it in churn, burnout, network, and reputation drag. The misalignment comes with a tax, and the tax is always due. So how do we fix this? Well, we start by aligning internally around three things before scaling externally. What are those three things? Let's talk about them. First, align on the customer's feeling.
What do you want customers to feel with every interaction they have with you? Do you want to feel confident, supported, safe, clear? What is the feeling you want your customers to have when they do business with you? Second, align the internal behaviors required to produce that feeling. If you want customers to feel trust, well, you need vast escalation processes. Clear ownership, consistent follow-through and a no-blame culture. Third, align on where the system is currently breaking. Where do handoffs fail? Where does confusion show up in the organization? Where do teams protect themselves instead of solving issues? This is not about blame. This is about design. This is also where empathy and force field analysis work together. Empathy helps us understand reality. Force field analysis helps us identify what is driving alignment and what is blocking it. So let's make this very tangible. If the brand says, we are strategic, we are a strategic partner, but internally teams work in silos, customers will feel that inconsistency. If the brand says, we move fast, but internal decision takes weeks, customers will feel that friction. If the brand says, we care, but employees are burnt out and silent, customers feel the leakage. Internal alignment, by the way, is not HR work. It is business performance work. So here's a tangible mood that you can put in place this week. Run an alignment mirror exercise. Okay, so here's what you want to do. On the left side, write the top three external promises you've made to the market. The top three external promises you've made to the market. On the right side, write the internal behaviors that you need, that are required to deliver each promise consistently. Then ask one honest question. Are we truly operating this way today, right now?
If the answer is no, you don't need to change the messaging. Change the operating behavior first. Bliss is not built by saying better things. Bliss is built by becoming more aligned. Thank you for listening to the Bliss Business Podcast. Next week, we're going to talk about how design thinking applies to leadership and why it is one of the most practical tools for building Bliss as a system. Until next time, stay blissful.
