Knicks make huge roster decisions. If you were wondering who was going to take New York's final roster spot, all of those questions have finally been answered. After these recent updates, New York's decision has become crystal clear.
Shout out to Shamshiraniya for giving us this following information. Knicks center Drew Eubanks sustained the torn pectoral muscle and will be sidelined for an extended period of time.
New York will wave Eubanks, who was competing for a reserve center spot in training camp.
Bobby Marks from ESPN also gives us this following information. Even with the long-term injury, New York is protected by an Exhibit 9 in his contract. Without the E9, New York would have been responsible for his salary during the recovery process. Instead, New York will only take a 15k cap hit.
This is very unfortunate for Drew Eubanks. I'm wishing him a speedy recovery. But given his injury, New York was forced to wave him. He's no longer on the roster. With regards to Tony Bradley, we can't forget the possible injury that he suffered to his hamstring the last game against the Raptors. Take a look. As you can see here, Tony Bradley is fighting for position, trying to get hands on the ball. He's not able to get the ball. It goes out of bounds. But then look at what he does afterwards. He grabs the back of his leg, likely his hamstring. And then he's limping off the court. This is not a good sign. After seeing this, it looks like he's dealing with a hamstring injury. So Drew Eubanks, he's out, he's waved, he's injured, he tore his pectoral muscle. And then with Tony Bradley, it looks like he has a hamstring injury. Now to top all of that off, New York just announced these following roster decisions. James L. Edwards of The Athletic confirms this following information. The Knicks are waving Tony Bradley, Drew Eubanks and Ochaya Baji. Brown and Wiseman are still standing, with the Knicks looking to fill that 14th roster spot before the season starts. New York would need to make a trade to keep both players. An NBA insider with the New York Post, Steph Bondi, also confirms this information. The Knicks have cut down the final roster competition to two players. James Wiseman and Bruce Brown. To keep both, the Knicks would need to make a trade. They've prioritized the center, and as the Post reported, Wiseman was the front runner since camp started. And given that New York has waved Tony Bradley and Drew Eubanks, there's only one center remaining, and that's James Wiseman. That means New York's 14th roster spot will go to him. Whether or not New York keeps Bruce Brown, all depends on if they make a trade. And reports indicate that the Knicks have both actively been exploring trade talks to move Pacome Dadiet. Why? Because they want to keep Bruce Brown too. Eubanks has been waved. Ochaya Baji has been waved. Tony Bradley has been waved. It's only James Wiseman and Bruce Brown as the last players standing, trying to make this roster. But given this update that we have from Ian Bagley, it seems even more likely that that 14th roster spot will absolutely go to James Wiseman. According to Bagley, prior to the Drew Eubanks injury, center James Wiseman had put himself in good position to make the Knicks final roster. Per SNY sources familiar with the matter, Knicks have enough room under the second apron to keep one camp vet. But Bruce Brown has also put himself in good position to get a roster spot. But the Knicks would need to trade a rostered player to make that happen. Brown, in my opinion, would be a great value addition for the Knicks, giving them strong veteran depth in case of an injury. ESPN reported Eubanks will be waived after suffering a pectoral injury. And if you were wondering when the Knicks have to make this final roster decision, I got you guys covered with these dates.
