An insider drops a bombshell report.
The Knicks right now are looking to add more depth to this team. Specifically, they're looking to trade for a center, and they're navigating the free agency market, looking to add more depth at the center position by adding one of those players. However, out of nowhere, an insider dropped this following report today that changes everything for New York in free agency. Let's take a look at the following update. According to Jake Fisher, an NBA insider with Bleacher Report and the Steinlein, he states the following, The Knicks have officially shown interest in LeBron James.
I almost can't believe it. I feel like this report is 10 years too late. But this is the reality right now. According to Jake Fisher, he states that New York is currently showing interest in LeBron James. But I could probably make that argument for 10 other teams in the NBA right now. Because a lot of teams, as soon as they heard LeBron was available, they wanted to add him to their team. However, it would be wrong if I didn't explain why it would make sense for LeBron to join New York. Number one, Leon Rose is in the Knicks front office. And we know the relationship LeBron has with Leon Rose. We also have to mention, a year or two ago, Leon Rose sat down with Rich Paul and they cleared out all the grievances. All the issues they had with each other, and now, clutch sports and the New York Knicks, they have no further issues going on. That means potentially, if LeBron James told Rich Paul, hey, I want to go to the Knicks, make that happen. Now, there are no obstacles in the way. If LeBron wants that, and the Knicks want that, they will make a deal happen. But let's slow down for a second. What are the Knicks looking to do right now?
Is it to get LeBron James or round out their roster? It's rounding out their roster. And how do they want to do that? By adding more center depth. Do I need to say it again? I feel like I've said it each and every video for the last few days. They lost all of their backup center depth in one day. They lost Ariel Huckporty to the 76ers, and they lost Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics. Would it be nice to add LeBron James at this point? Of course it would. We all heard the reports, right? LeBron James does not care about money right now. He doesn't even care if he has to take the minimum to join a team. Why?
Because LeBron just wants to be happy. He's looking for happiness in the next team that he joins. Will he find that happiness with the New York Knicks? I guess only time could tell, but New York is strapped for cash right now. They're around $8 million away from the second apron. And mind you, they have to use that money to fill out the rest of this roster. How are they going to add two centers to this team? LeBron James and any other players that they need to add to get to the 14 player minimum for next season? That's the main question at this point. Now maybe New York makes a trade, and if they do that, they're able to get a player that they want, free up additional cap space, and maybe at that point, they can look at Free Agency, look at LeBron James, and look at all of these other players that they want to add to the roster. But if you're asking me, I don't think that LeBron is going to join New York. This is the final years of his career. You're telling me he's going to want to end his career in New York? Not Cleveland? Not Golden State? I find that very hard to believe. Maybe New York is showing interest. Some degree of interest. But maybe other teams, they're not only showing interest, they're also offering LeBron more money. And maybe the key to happiness for LeBron is joining a team he wants to join, making more money, and doing so in a location that's not too far away from where he calls home right now. And if we're looking at all of that, wouldn't Golden State be the perfect option? Or maybe Cleveland would be the perfect option because he could go to LA., keep his things in LA., but also he has a home in Cleveland as well. So maybe that makes sense for him too. I mean, either way you look at it, does it really sound like the New York Knicks are the best possible option for LeBron James in what could be his final season or maybe his final years in the league?
