Yeah, yeah, 342 Carton Show, Big Mac. I want some sing-along songs today, Pete. It's Friday.

Chris McMonigle (0:10)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (0:10)

It's beautiful outside. Everybody seemingly is in a good mood other than Mike and Eastchester.

Chris McMonigle (0:16)

Yeah. So we got football back.

Craig Carton (0:19)

Had an entertaining game last night. Did you guys make picks on last night's game?

Chris McMonigle (0:24)

We certainly did.

Craig Carton (0:25)

And that sounds to me like my man won again.

Chris McMonigle (0:27)

The big boy is 6 and 6 and 1 I'm sorry. That's not it.

Craig Carton (0:30)

You're already overrating it.

Chris McMonigle (0:31)

Well, I'm 6 and 1 Oh, and my last 6

Craig Carton (0:33)

So you're 6 and 1 You had the Bills. What was the spread in last night's game?

Chris McMonigle (0:37)

5 and 1 half.

Craig Carton (0:38)

Okay. How did Pete and Gallo do?

Chris McMonigle (0:43)

Gallo was with me on the Bills. Pete was on the line.

Craig Carton (0:45)

So what's your record, Pete, after 7 games?

Chris McMonigle (0:47)

I'm Gallo 3 and 4

Craig Carton (0:49)

You're 3 and 4

Chris McMonigle (0:50)

And Gallo is 4 and 3

Craig Carton (0:52)

And Gallo is 4 and 3

Chris McMonigle (0:53)

Yeah, I'm 6 and 1

Craig Carton (0:54)

So by the way, all together, not bad.

Chris McMonigle (0:56)

Not bad.

Craig Carton (0:57)

And you're obviously the leader of the club. I was by 2 games over Gallo, 3 over Petey. But not a good start overall.

Chris McMonigle (1:03)

Good start.

Craig Carton (1:04)

Not bad. I guess the books got pretty much whacked yesterday because everyone had the over, too, I think. And it did cover the overs, like 55 or something.

Chris McMonigle (1:12)

54 and a half was the over going into last night. It's a big over.

Craig Carton (1:15)

I saw some guidelines like, yo, I'm the greatest handicapper of all time. Teams in this situation have covered the under 9 consecutive times.

Chris McMonigle (1:24)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (1:27)

Just make your own picks. Don't pay for picks. Don't pay for services. They all stink. There's not a single service out there that's any good. You are just as good and just as bad as everybody pretending to be, you know, oh, we're not a full insider. No, you're not.

I'm the great.

Chris McMonigle (1:42)

No, you're not.

Craig Carton (1:43)

I never. Yeah, you do.

I think there are people who are probably better at it than the layman, but I don't know about worthy of in the history of sports handicapping other than Billy Walters, Happy Walters, who's the greatest American sports gambler of all time. All right. He actually went to prison for insider trading in a case that involved Phil Mickelson, and Phil Mickelson threw him under the bus during that case, which is another story for another day, outside of Happy Walters. All right.

Chris McMonigle (2:10)

Wasn't so happy that day, was he?

Craig Carton (2:12)

No, there's not a single alleged handicapper on the planet today that you've heard of, or that you'll see on TikTok or Instagram or Twitter, or what have you, that has ever had back-to-back years in which they won more than 55 percent of their games. Not a single human being on the planet. So when you read all these morons are like, 17-1 in my last 18, they're lying to you.

So just know that. Do not pay a nickel for those services because they're all full of crap.

Chris McMonigle (2:43)

That I agree with.

Craig Carton (2:43)

You can handicap a game as good as anybody out there. They're praying on you to be desperate because you lost three games in a row, and they know you're going to keep betting, and they try to get you while you're at your low.

Guaranteed winners this Sunday. That kind of crap, right? I got a 17 parlay, sure to win. Okay, great. That's why 93% of all the revenue created by the online gambling sites come through parlays. But you're guaranteed to win your seven-leg parlay.

Chris McMonigle (3:16)

No, I'm listening. I'm with you. Parlays are dumb.

Craig Carton (3:18)

Yes.

Chris McMonigle (3:19)

And I wouldn't take the facts. But I do think there are people who are smarter than me.

Craig Carton (3:23)

There might be people smarter than you, or people that use AI and algorithms.

But most algorithms are based on historical data. What did the Steelers do in the last 25 years when favored by three or more points on the road against the NFC West team coming off a win? It's irrelevant.
