A mandatory ethics disclosure revealed back in 2025 that Trump's SEC Chairman, Paul Atkins, owns a whopping 54 life insurance policies worth an estimate between anywhere from 30 million to 70 million in mainly made up of universal life insurance policies. Today, we're diving into the release documents answering the questions that are even leaving many financial experts confused. Dom, it's always fun doing the show with you, and I'm excited to dive in to what's in our world, the very lame world of the insurance space.
A lot of people have been talking about it. I think the normal person's life doesn't even know who Paul Atkins is. But if you're an insurance guy, you've been talking about this or probably seen this.

The art of life insurance policies by somebody who is in the political world having many is something that we get excited about. But for most people, they're just like, what's the point? But since this is a life insurance podcast, we might as well talk about all the fun things. And so with that being said, let's just talk about a little bit who is Paul Atkins first and foremost. Because I think that'll set the stage, right? Because even in a lot of presentations that we do, we talk about banks and institutions and BOLI and COLAI, and how presidents have this overfunded whole life insurance. And we're going to dive into this. And this guy has got lots of policies that are not for the whole life, actually the majority of them are universal life. And we could potentially talk about why that is the case and whatnot. But Paul Atkins is the chairman of the SEC.
In 2025 of April is when he got sworn in. Before, Gary Gensler was the individual who was the SEC commissioner before him. But Trump swore him in just not too long ago. But for people that don't know necessarily what his role is, I mean, he's just the head of the SEC.
He can appoint certain people within that organization. His whole thing is to making sure that the SEC sticks to its core mission, which is to protect investors at the end of the day. Which it's funny because there were so many memes in the past with Gary Gensler and things along those lines where he wasn't doing his job very well, especially in certain spaces like crypto and other things like that. And so we'll see how Paul continues to perform, but I think it's just important to know is that somebody that's got a massive net worth, I think it's like 300 plus million, obviously is very close to President Trump. He's got 50 plus life insurance policies. And so for that reason, we thought it would be important for us to talk about him today.

I think that was well done, Dom. And one of the most interesting things that we're going to dive into is what he had to disclose is the companies that he was working with and the policies. And then there's like an estimate that obviously some of these estimates are big range, and we're only as good as what we can do. So we're just going to share with you what we've found just by digging through. So you're ready to dive into the companies, and then we'll get into what some people are speculating and what we think about this whole matter. I think the short summary is it's always exciting to see when people that are very influential are doing big things that are utilizing life insurance, and it's sometimes hard when people use your favorite S-word, which is scam.
And they're like, oh, it's such a scam that the chairman of the SEC has it. It's like, yeah, yeah, we're such a scam. Banks have this. It's such a scam that most corporations utilize this. It's like, it just kind of like is a cue, roll your eyes kind of deal. But I also understand what people are saying. It's not for everybody. And someone could say, yeah, Paul's extremely wealthy. Of course, he's going to use life insurance. And I think that's really the story here. So let's just dive into some of these companies like I'm very familiar with. Some of these companies I'm not super familiar with. So the first, he has two policies from National Life Group with a pretty big range, get this Dom, anywhere from 6 million of death benefit to 26 million plus of death benefit. So that's a big range, but that's more death benefit than most people.
And then he's got two policies with Zurich, anywhere from 2 million to 6 million. I wasn't super familiar with them, but their insurance group that has an A-plus rating from Anambas, 140 years of experience as a global insurer in the United States, life insurance issued by Zurich American Life. So I almost wonder if this is a... I think they do some reinsurance as well, but it looks like they're a specialty life insurance company.
