Hello, hello, The Joy of Football Podcast with Martin Tyler, the greatest commentator in the world. And me, Neil Barnett, is on Zoom this week, because I'm still up in Liverpool after Chelsea's wonderful 2-0 win at Everton. Let's press on. Martin, by the way, first podcast in his new house.
Martin Tyler (3:37)
Yes, my debut, the house's debut. The sun is shining outside, Neil, so I've got to make sure that everything works out in terms of getting pictures as clear as, when we get to our ages, we need the best possible life.
Neil Barnett (3:51)
Well, I've got sunshine in Liverpool.
Neil Barnett (3:53)
This must be climate change.
Martin Tyler (3:55)
It's going to be a sunny podcast.
Neil Barnett (3:58)
We start with What I Saw This Week, which of course takes us a week back into last week. Martin, go.
Martin Tyler (4:07)
Well, I did the Champions League game, which was an amazing game really, Roma against Real Madrid. And I'll talk more about the individuals involved a bit later in the programme. But the fact was that with 10 minutes or so to go, Real Madrid were 3-1 down and got themselves a 4-3 win. And you would think by playing the sort of extravagant football with bags of individual inspiration, counting aside a wearying defence. In fact, they scored from three set pieces, which would seem very much against the history and the traditions of the club, but it served them particularly well. And I think from the, obviously from the managerial point of view, it was great. We have a lot of incidents, don't we, in our football, with the organiser of the set pieces getting quite a lot of camera coverage. I wasn't too sure it was behind this, but it got them a win. And they are one of the few clubs who have started with two victories, and they've both been against Italian clubs, having beaten Inter and Roma. And of course, the duet with Jose Mourinho in charge to go back to, he has obviously been in charge of both those clubs in the past. He's won the Champions League with Inter. And the last, and that's amazing, Neil, it still amazes me that Italy haven't won the Champions League since 2010, when Jose Mourinho was in charge of Inter.
