If It Makes Sense to Everyone Else — It's Probably Not From God

Welcome to episode 841 If it makes sense to everyone else, it may not be from God. If it makes sense to everyone else, it's probably not from God. The path that I have taken throughout my entire career has always been forging its own path. It's been very different than the one that has been painted the picture, which is why we talk a lot about that here on The Niche Is You, a lot of lived experience in that department. And then I was listening to this great video online from the profile of Zach Networth, and he was talking about, most of the time, it's not going to make sense to others, because what is for you is specifically for your path.
It's between you and God, and that's a faith walk. In fact, you don't even know a lot of the times what's going to happen, and why we hold back on following that sometimes is because we, I like, he references it, and I'm going to play the audio here in a moment, but it's like really what's happening is just not that you're waiting for certainty, you're managing risk. You're managing risk because you're, you know, it requires a faith walk, and answers get revealed about what's for you while you are obedient to listening to God, to the intuition to move on the things that you are feeling called to. And of course, it's not going to make sense to a lot of other people. Why would it? It's not been placed on their heart, it's been placed on yours. And if you think about it, that's what builds resilience, that's what builds character, that's what builds strength, courage. All of these characteristics and traits that we want to have come from doing the things that we're called to do while others may not understand, and yet, you know, come at us. You know, sometimes doubting or, you know, questioning or whatever it might be. Well, yeah, how else are you going to build the very traits that maybe you admire and see in this world? So I'm going to play the clip, and then we'll go from there.

If your plan makes sense to everyone around you right now, it probably doesn't require God, to be honest. Faith rarely gives you a full explanation upfront. Most people that claim they're waiting on God are actually waiting on certainty. They'll say things like, once I know how to make it happen, then I'll do it.
But faith doesn't move after understanding. Understanding comes after obedience. This is why God keeps some instruction extremely vague. It's not to confuse you, but it's to reveal if you trust Him or your own logic. If you only move when the outcome is guaranteed, you're not walking by faith. You're just managing risks. And honestly, God will let you stay comfortable if that's what you choose. But comfort never produces calling. So if you feel like you're standing at the edge of something greater, but it doesn't fully make sense yet, that might be the invitation. Don't expect the plan to always make sense to you, and especially not to those around you, because faith always looks foolish at first. But once God moves, it starts to look prophetic in hindsight. Don't shrink the vision, right?

So don't shrink the vision because others don't understand it. It's not for others. It's actually part of your faith walk. And in this episode, I want to talk about why real assignments from God rarely make sense to the people around you. I want to talk about the difference between waiting on God and waiting on certainty, you know? Certainty, the thing is like, okay, if you knew everything, and really, really think about this, if you knew everything up front, would you do the thing? And that's the hard part about that is that on one hand, let's say you knew all the hard work and you're like, oh, I don't know if I want to do that. But you don't necessarily know what you want or what capacity is unless you're in it. You feel tied to the reason why you've even started. And then that's now growing you because you're like, oh, I want to work through this because I know why I'm doing it versus like, oh, if you're going to tell me all the variables up front, and I'm probably not going to do it with anybody, you know. And then I think that's a beautiful reason to not know everything. And you can't know everything. I also want to talk about why understanding comes after obedience, not before. Listen, like, if you think about this, you listen, you take a step, it gave you some information, and now you know how to take the next step. It gives you more information, you take the next step. Now you're cultivating knowledge, understanding, competence, experience, right? So understanding has to come after listening and making the next step. It just has to. I also want to talk about why comfort never produces calling. I mean, how could it? If we just stay here, how would we understand how far the vision takes us? And then I also want to talk about what it means to move at the edge of something you don't fully understand yet. I want you to hear this clearly. We all don't fully understand how big it's all supposed to be, how it's all going to come together. Any of the anybody you see out there that's doing all the things, they're just doing it and they are tied to why they're doing it, and they're having a faith walk, and so can you. So let's jump into it. If the plan makes sense to everyone around you, it probably didn't require God to give it to you. You could have figured it out on your own. Real faith rarely comes with a full explanation. So number one, the assignments God gives you really make sense to everyone else. Let's have a conversation about that. If your calling made complete sense to the people around you, it probably wouldn't have needed to come from God. Why would it? Because it's sort of like saying like, oh, hey, I'm going to outsource my authority or my path and say, what do you all think the past should be? Oh, that's what it should all be. This is how it should all look like. These are the steps I should take. Okay, great. Now, I'm not saying don't get help. We absolutely need help and inputs and mentorship and guidance and coaching and, you know, education, all kinds of things. Right? But all of those should deepen our practice for what we're here to do and why we're doing it, not simply say, follow everybody else.
