Welcome to The Niche Is You. My name is Matt Gottesman, at Matt Gottesman on Instagram, and this is my daily podcast where I create short, quick hitting episodes to help you uncomplicate life, creativity, and the pursuit of your highest self. There's only main character energy here. Now, let's get into it.
Welcome to episode 879, and this is a relaunch of the episode, If It Doesn't Fit Your Future. Don't Keep Forcing It In The Present. If It Doesn't Fit Your Future, Don't Keep Forcing It In The Present. Again, this is part of a small series I'm going to do of relaunching some older episodes from a long while, well, from half the catalog back. How about that? And ones that I thought might just be the right message at the right time that you might need. And the moment I even opened up this episode, said, this might be the confirmation you need, I said, this is what you guys need to hear. So, if it doesn't fit your future, don't keep forcing it in the present.
Welcome to episode 550 If it doesn't fit your future, don't keep forcing it in the present. Yeah, that part. If it doesn't fit your future, don't keep forcing in the present. You already know where I'm going to go with this, but maybe this is the confirmation that you need. You already know what you need to do. And this is going to apply to your relationships. This is going to apply to your work, your role maybe with a business, your friendships, right? If it doesn't fit your future, you cannot keep forcing it in the present. It's not going where you're going. It doesn't serve maybe anymore where you're heading. Now, it can certainly give you lessons if you want to keep repeating some of them. So in this episode, I want to talk about how do you discern misalignment in your current season, right? Why your next level requires internal space, not just external action. That part right there, because often it turns people like, yeah, I'm just going to take action right away. I'm going to just run right into it. Let's go. Let's go. And I'm like, well, can you pause for a moment? Again, inside my sub stack, we were having a live call yesterday, and we were talking about space.
And one of the community members, she was spot on. She's like, it's interesting because she's like, I see what you did by creating this. It was to create space first. So movement is an automatic byproduct basically. I'm like, yeah, we're so used to, if I don't like something, let me go do something else. But what about in between trusting your intuition and having a moment to think about it? Not psych yourself out and not talk yourself out of it thinking. I mean, like just space to be like, wait a minute, what's really going on here? So you can actually move intentionally into the next move versus just immediately go into one, right? And the other things I want to talk about on this episode are letting go of used to fit things with grace. With grace is the key word. Some people just want to, you know, just like burn it all down, like I said, I'm out. It's like, well, hold up a second, like it served a season. How you leave something shows your growth development more than anything. Yes, not everybody will like how you leave or you even leaving the thing. But how you leave is more important with grace, with respect. The reputation of you in this world matters the most. It's how you do things. I can't tell you how many times I have let go of used to fit things or places or people or whatever. And, you know, there were moments where they weren't, maybe if it was a people thing, they weren't necessarily happy. Can I just tell you, I am batting almost a thousand where some time later they come back, sometimes months, sometimes years. They're like, hey, I get you. I get what you did. I get what, like I get, and thank you for being respectful in the process. And I'm sorry if I didn't understand at that moment.
You know, letting go of used to fit things with grace. And then the fourth thing I want to bring up is making present decisions based on future alignment, not past comfort. Making present decisions based on future alignment, not past comfort. And this is how we play in the present, right? Think about that. Future alignment is, oh, if this is where I'm heading, this is what I need to be doing now. This also is, if this is where I'm heading, this isn't where I've been necessarily. And if that's the case, then I have to make different present decisions.
