Everything shut down. There was no more accountability. There was no more shame. There was no more thought. There was no more nothing. I was drooling. My ears were ringing. And all I knew when my ears stopped ringing was I wanted more.

Kevin Lanning (2:16)

Allison, thank you. I appreciate you coming on.

Allison Doss (2:18)

Thanks for having me.

Kevin Lanning (2:19)

You currently live in Delray.

Allison Doss (2:20)

I do.

Kevin Lanning (2:21)

Originally, you're from Louisiana.

Allison Doss (2:23)

I am.

Kevin Lanning (2:23)

Are you born and raised in Louisiana? Take us to early childhood.

Allison Doss (2:27)

What was that like? I grew up in a very small community, a town called Duboc, D-U-B-A-C-H. I call it drawback, maybe 500 people in the town. The white people lived on one side, and the black people lived on the other side, and they don't mingle. They respect each other's space. Very racist area.

My dad was very dominant, aggressive, punched holes in the walls, ruled with an iron fist. My brother and sister, older, were very passive children who would just play with their toys, and I was the youngest who would break their toys. I would do anything possible to get a rise out of my dad, and once I discovered what the extent of his wrath was, I could take it. And it was violent and aggressive, but once I saw the peak, I knew that there was nothing that he could do to make me stop doing anything I wanted to do. And that happened at a very early age.

Yeah, and that's kind of how I went through life. Okay. Testing the wrath of whatever the situation is, and if I could take it, I keep going.

Kevin Lanning (3:38)

What was it about pushing him and pushing him and pushing him?

Allison Doss (3:42)

I will never know.

I have done the work. I have gone back. I have been so self-introspective during this lifetime, and there is absolutely no reason. I can't pinpoint a reason. I didn't want to be told what to do first and foremost, but I was just born that way.

Kevin Lanning (4:04)

I pushed my dad. I got a high out of him reacting. It like set off.

Allison Doss (4:12)

I mean, I was doing it since I was three. I wasn't aware of a high, and even as I got older, I just wanted to do what I wanted to do, and no one was going to tell me not to, and I didn't care what the consequences were. The consequences didn't scare me, and they were never enough to make me not do terrible things.
