On today's show, we are talking about AetherSDR with Jeremy Fielder, KK7GWY.

Jeremy was licensed as a tech in June 2022 and upgraded to his general a month later. He came into the hobby late and went straight down the deep end, he says. Most of his airtime started out on digital modes and then lately has moved into more rag chewing and parks on the air, which are both better excuses than they sound for discovering exactly what a radio client gets wrong. When he's not in not working on the radio, he flies aerobatics and an extra 300 L. We'll have to ask more about that. And he'd like to record the show. He's working on both of those. So he's like, excuse me, he'd like the record to show that he's working on both of those. I'll get that right eventually. What he says he isn't is a programmer. Jeremy has never written a line of C++ in his life. So Jeremy, welcome aboard. Hello.

Jeremy Fielder (2:49)

Hi, everybody. Thanks for having me on. I'm so happy to be here.

Vince Dion (2:52)

That's great. How are things in Northern Idaho this evening?

Jeremy Fielder (2:56)

It's beautiful. I got my little portable fire pit going here next to me and really enjoying a nice, what, second day of fall. It's beautiful.

Vince Dion (3:06)

Okay. Yeah, very good. Perfect. On the show, we also have Thomas K4S2AL.

Jeremy Fielder (3:11)

Hey, buddy.

Thomas (3:11)

Hey, how's it going, Vince?

Jeremy Fielder (3:13)

Good.

Vince Dion (3:13)

And you?

Thomas (3:14)

Doing really well. It's beautiful here. Actually, it's cooled down a bit. We've got some fall temperatures, lots of moisture in the air. It's really foggy outside right now. It's really, really moody and actually feels really nice outside.

But we're getting that. But I don't know, a few hours drive out to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They've got a nor'easter churning off the coast right now that is really chewing up some of the barrier islands. So I really feel for those people because that's a big storm. But here it's been really, really nice.

Vince Dion (3:47)

Wow. Okay. Well, I'm glad it's nice where you are.

We also this evening have Mike Walker, VA3MW. Hi, Mike.

Mike Walker (3:56)

Hey, Vince. Where am I today? I am in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, which is right across the bay from Biloxi, which I can see right over there. And my portable heater just set over there.

It's about 88 degrees Fahrenheit and probably about the same humidity. And then Saturday, I go back to the Great White North, but I've been down here, well, I'll tell you more later, but for several weeks, getting acclimatized to Southern hospitality. They've been amazing people here.

Vince Dion (4:28)

That's great. Well, it's super to hear. We also have with us this evening, Paul WD9GCO. Hi, Paul.

Paul (4:37)

We do. Good evening, everybody.

Vince Dion (4:40)

And how are you?

Paul (4:41)

I am doing well. It's been in the mid-60s here in the Chicago area, which is kind of weird.

It's like last week was in the 90s, and then all of a sudden, Paul says, Hi, I'm here. And I'm not complaining. It's better than being 90

Vince Dion (5:01)

Well, very good.

Perfect. Well, with that, let's get on to that segment called What's On Your Workbench? And Jeremy, as our guest of honor this evening, our special guest, we'd like to know what's on your workbench? What are you working on?
