Queen Carvania stood haloed by the morning sun. An army hung on her every word.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:08)
My champions, I have sold my chariot on Carvana to us a lovely SUV, an inexplicably queenly offer. They're even coming to the castle to collect it. Tonight, we feast.
An offer you can feast on. Sell your car today on Carvana. Pick up these ma'am, bye.

Ladies, ladies, ladies, you are here. You listen to Women of Impact because you know that I bring on the most freaking amazing bad ass women that give us advice on how the hell we fix all the issues that we're suffering with. And today, god damn, today, you are gonna be in beast mode. That one piece of confidence that you need to stand up for yourself, but you just find that you don't have the strength or the courage to say what you really mean. Well, today we're gonna fix all of that my girl, Afrika Brooke, because she's talking about how on earth we start flipping the script and finally take action when someone disrespects us or come at us with something that is completely inappropriate. Now, in this part, Afrika is coming in freaking hot with the tools that you need to reclaim that voice of yours and own the boundaries that you want to set without apology. That's right, guys, you can see that I'm so damn freaking amped up because we are gonna dive in and change our lives. And we all start with learning how to stop people pleasing and stop self-censoring ourselves and explain why that is actually trapping us in the long term. Africa also talks about the real cost of actually neglecting your own happiness to keeping other people comfortable. Let me tell you, it doesn't end well. And she talks about how to start finally showing up for yourself even when it's tough, even when you feel like maybe it's an emotionally charged situation. Guys, we got you today. Any situation that you find tough, that you don't have the confidence to fight back or have your own back. Well, with part one and now this part two, you are going to leave with the tools and tactics to have the strength to do just that. Mahomi, you are here to learn the lessons and the skills in order to live the life that you freaking want. And it starts here, starts right now with us defending our opinions and our voice. Let's dive in right now. You are listening to Women of Impact with me, Lisa Bilyeu and my girl, the incredible Afrika Brooke.
So how do you then know how to express yourself? So if you've done all this work and you've done the two steps, now you're on the third one and you're like, okay, I've done the work, I'm taking accountability, I've reflected.
And now you're put in the first moment where your boyfriend comes to you and he's just like, you're really defensive. But your identity is being the person that's always open. So now you're somewhat triggered, your identity is being questioned. How did you make sure then to keep in the expression of talking through it, standing up for yourself, saying the truth, saying the hard thing, without A, going backwards like you said, and then B, I've never been addicted to alcohol, so I don't know, so pardon my ignorance here. But I would think that sometimes when things are hard, that becomes an option. And I don't know if that's true, but if it is, when you're about to say something hard, when you're about to do the hard thing, many people may revert back to whether it's alcohol or whether it's just a negative belief system. How do you make sure you don't? And then how do you make sure that you are open in your expression without being aggressive?

**Afrika Brooke** (3:35)
Except that you're not going to get it perfect. Because for a lot of us listening, I have a feeling, just Spidey Senses tells me that some of us might also struggle with perfectionism.
Which is why when our identity is challenged, we can feel very abrasive to the spirit because you feel like, oh, I'm no longer perfect in this person's eyes. So I think something that I personally had to really accept is that I was not going to get it perfect, but I was not going to use that as an excuse to not try. That's also important. So it's like that, it's just that beautiful balance you always have to be in. It's not a thing of, well, I'm not going to get it perfect anyway, so I'm trying my best. Right.
