Did the scratcher come to your house and hand you a check?

No.

What up, my homies? It's your girl, Lisa Bilyeu here. And if you've ever felt like you're constantly fricking walking on eggshells around your loved ones, whether it's a partner or a family member, and you've always blamed yourself for not actually been able to damn hold your ground in tough situations, or you find yourself gritting your fricking teeth because what you are hearing is so offensive, but you don't have the energy or the strength or the power or the confidence to answer back or stand up for yourself. So you end up sacrificing everything. You sacrifice your personal needs, your inner peace, and eventually that leads to burnout, more frustration and feeling just emotionally drained. Oh my god, I'm emotionally drained just saying all of that because it's so fricking true, right? You think about doing everything quote unquote right, about being the peacemaker, about making sure that you don't ruffle any feathers, but that ends up making you feel unloved, disrespected or misunderstood and quite frankly, exhausted. Well, my homie, if any of that sounds familiar, then it's time to fricking shed those habits, shed the misconceptions that we've been taught about sacrificing our own happiness for the sake of everyone around us.
It's time to say fricking enough is enough and stop fricking people pleasing. Now guys, I'm saying that as someone who did it for eight years, eight years, and that is why this episode is so damn important to me. It is so important for me to stop bringing people to you to hear about how the hell you stand up for yourself, you defend yourself, and you're able to have the confidence to speak out loud and say what is right for you. So today, my girl, fricking the amazing Afrika Brooke is here to help us. Now she shows us how you can start practicing honesty and embodying your values to align with who you really want to be without the fear of judgment or misunderstanding and backlash. We go over the importance of self-awareness and how to set personal boundaries, even at the most emotionally charged family setting. As a holiday start to approach, guys, I'm telling you, you want to listen to this. Then we go into exactly how to handle the disrespect in social settings with utter grace, but yet assertiveness without ever, ever compromising our self-respect. This was such a good one because me, when I started to build my confidence, I sounded like a chihuahua. I was just so scared about speaking up that I came across totally aggressive. And let's be honest, that technique didn't work. So Africa's teaching us how to handle it and make sure that we hold our own respect while we do it. And then finally, we go into the art of effective communication because again, I felt like if I came in and just resorted my authority, then I would get what I wanted. But nope, surprise, surprise, that didn't work. So we talk about how to effectively communicate, especially in a romantic relationship and how you're able to do that while maintaining your integrity, but still being completely empathetic to the other person. Oh my God, so much to go over today guys. And by the end of this episode, you'll have all the tools that you need to actually finally step into your power, communicate effectively and not like the Chihuahua that I was, and actually build the relationships that you honor and where they honor you, where you don't have to always have your backup and wonder, are they about to disrespect you again? No, no, no, because you've done the work and hells no, you're never going to let anyone treat you like that again, right? After this episode, that's what you're going to feel like. So let's dive in right now. I'm Lisa Bilyeu and welcome to Women of Impact with my girl, Afrika Brooke.
Afrika Brooke, welcome to Women of Impact.
