I have never spoken to someone on this show who is so smart when it comes to cancer research. I mean, I was blown away at the first episode you were on, and you and I have had conversations off air.
What are you seeing when it comes to stem cells, exosomes as it applies to cancer? Are you seeing anything with that?

**Dr. John Gildea** (0:33)
I don't think it fits into a treatment bucket. But I would say that it fits into a general idea of cancer is very much age dependent.
I like the analogy. My wife is very good with analogies. She teaches 10th grade biology boys in high school, and they need something that grabs their attention. She always does these analogies. Then I think a really good one for this topic would be, if you had a seed, say the seed was similar to a cancer, if you take that and you just put it into a garden that doesn't have anything else in it, and you just put it into that garden, it's going to grow.
And how fast it grows and how wild it grows after it germinates is dependent on the seed. But if you try to take that same seed and just throw it into a forest that's been there, primary forest that's been there for a thousand years, every niche, every little place where that would land is already occupied by tons of life that's in balance. Right? So part of that balance is how each of the cells are talking to each other. You know, tons of research coming out that strong muscles release a whole bunch of exosomes and you're saying peptides and things like that that talk to every other cell in your body. Really interesting ones recently talking to your fat cells where it makes your fat cells be able to drop their fat faster.

**Michael Bosstick** (2:17)
So, you're saying that muscle mass potentially has preventative abilities when it comes to growing cancer because it doesn't like to grow around the muscle mass. Is that a dumb way to say it or is that correct?

**Dr. John Gildea** (2:27)
It's correct in that if you talk about your body being like that mature forest, everything's in balance and everything is functioning as that's supposed to be. And so, maybe it's helpful to have the opposite of that.
Because most people know whether they're healthy or not. If your body is sick and things like if you're stressed all the time, you're always thinking about negative things all the time, it affects your body in so many different ways. That's psychosomatic, it's gigantic. But that's creating this environment like you went into the middle of the forest and dug up a hundred acres in the middle of that. It's not balanced anymore. That is going to be able to have these bad seeds be able to grow in that area.

What's the craziest thing that you've seen when it comes to cancer? Maybe something that is even almost a miracle because you've seen it all.

**Dr. John Gildea** (3:30)
Yeah, I mean, there's all kinds of ones. And I guess the way to frame it the best way is to say, I'm always surprised by the response. You know, some of the worst possible scenarios where I only get involved after medicine has completely stopped working. But you just try something as simple as, I'll think of one example, one good example is, there was a lady that she showed up with metastatic pancreatic cancer. And they basically said, you know, have a couple months. And they showed up in our kitchen. And while we were talking, we were just talking about things my wife does. And one of the things she found super helpful was juicing. And she said, I don't eat anything green. I don't ever eat any vegetables or anything. And then right while she was there, like a little light bulb went off. And we're like, you think that is possibly, you know, why? And I was like, I don't know, it makes sense to me. Like that's a pretty big hole in your nutrition.
And by the way, eating fresh vegetables and fruits come with their exosomes. And that's why, you know, right out of the ground, two days from your CSA is better than anyone. Anyway, so we got her to agree to try and juice.
Did some other things too, some natural compounds that we knew are generally good for pancreatic cancer specifically.
And she completely reverted. Zero, nothing.
