What's up, Molly? Welcome to the 1of10 Podcast.

Molly Kaiser (0:02)

Hello, I'm on my favorite podcast. Yay.

Richard (0:05)

For those who don't know you, can you tell them what do you do? And also, more specifically, how much you made lifetime from YouTube.

Molly Kaiser (0:12)

Sure. Okay. So I'm Molly Kaiser. Nice to meet you.

I started as a professional photographer. Then I started teaching other photographers through digital products. Did that for 16 years. And now I teach anyone who wants to sell digital products with the knowledge they already have. But I specifically teach them how to do it using YouTube specifically, because that is the traffic source that is working so well right now. And I've just become obsessed with YouTube. I know that I've done $9 million in sales with digital products since 2014

With YouTube specifically, last year, all of our sales came from YouTube and we did 569,000 something, the numbers on my channel with a screenshot. If you want to go look, I do put all the screenshots in all my videos of all my numbers. And then this year, we are like maybe two months away from 100K months. I'm very, very excited. And I think last year with AdSense, we did like 35,000 brand deals, maybe 50,000 somewhere around there. Just so most, like high majority of my sales is digital products.

Richard (1:17)

Nine million dollars from YouTube and everything.

Molly Kaiser (1:21)

Digital products since 2014 revenue.

Richard (1:24)

And 100K per month real soon. So those are crazy numbers. That's what a lot of viewers are wanting. First question is basically, how did you do it? What's your story?

Molly Kaiser (1:35)

So I always like to tell that I was a photographer first, then helped those people with digital products, because otherwise a lot of people say like, well, you could only make money with digital products if you teach digital products. That really could not be further from the truth. I do that now because of all the knowledge I have. If you're seeing only people making money with digital products who are teaching it, it's because that's how the YouTube algorithm works. Once you start watching those types of videos, that's all it shows you.

So if you're watching quilting videos, you'll see people selling digital products about quilting. If you watch, I don't know, any other type of videos, those are the kinds of videos that you will get.

So how did I do it? Well, I've tried a lot of things before I went on YouTube. I originally grew my following with blogging and Pinterest way back in the day. I don't recommend it anymore. It's like old school and...

Richard (2:25)

What year are we?

Molly Kaiser (2:26)

Oh gosh. So anywhere from 2014 all the way to 2019 was when I grew like a 60,000 email list with blogging and Pinterest. But post 2020, things like drastically changed. We were also running a lot of ads towards 2019, 2020 Millions of dollars in ads. So I do know a lot about ads, but the costs skyrocketed after 2020 So when I started this business, it made sense to do the things that I had done previously that worked. Only I found that they don't work the way that they used to anymore.

So after fumbling for a year, wasting 50 grand on ads, wasting money on blogging and Pinterest, wasting money on...

I know reels and TikTok and that can work, but I just found that it didn't bring in that many sales comparatively to YouTube longs. So I tried some longs and I found they brought in a lot of sales. And so 2023, I went all in on YouTube long form content and got monetized within seven months.

Richard (3:25)

One second. You started YouTube when?

Molly Kaiser (3:28)

2023

Richard (3:29)

So that's the thing. So that's what I want to keep reminding people is it's never too late to get on YouTube. Like in 2011, I thought YouTube was too late. Then I went all in in 2019, 2020 As long as you have the right vision, the right audience that you have in mind, which you've proven, like in seven months, you got monetized and then change your life.

Molly Kaiser (3:49)

I just want to reiterate that I did think I was too late to YouTube. I had been a huge... I mean, I went to college in 2007, 2009-ish era. YouTube was pretty popular. We watched YouTube videos at house parties and stuff. I remember thinking YouTube was so cool, and I always wanted a channel, but I always thought I was too late for that many years. For that many years, I put off being on YouTube. It's ridiculous to think about. And then 2023, none of this stuff was working, so I was like, this is all I have left to try. I'm going to try this. And I thought I was too late because this is when, right around the time they rolled out shorts, and I thought, oh, great. I'm too late to longs. They're putting out shorts. I'm always too late to everything. That's literally how I felt.
