Welcome to The Niche Is You. My name is Matt Gottesman, at Matt Gottesman on Instagram, and this is my daily podcast where I create short, quick hitting episodes to help you uncomplicate life, creativity, and the pursuit of your highest self. There's only main character energy here. Now let's get into it.

Welcome to episode 887, how to create deeper trust with yourself and your intuition. How to create deeper trust with yourself and intuition. So yesterday, the previous podcast, I was giving you advice on what I thought about your calling and your craft and whatnot. And then it was interesting because a few people reached out based on the story that I put up the previous week. They said, this is excellent. This is exactly what I need to hear. And trusting myself is where each of these individuals are basically saying the same thing, like where they sometimes get stumped in that. And they said, how did you develop so much self-trust? And I said, it's a lifelong practice. And I said, maybe this is good to make an episode about a podcast episode about creating deeper trust with yourself and your intuition. Because it is absolutely, it is an ongoing relationship with yourself. You have to ask yourself, do you find it fascinating that you're willing to have so many different types of relationships in the world, like whether the friendship, or you're looking for a mate for life, and partnership, or you're in business, a business partner, whatever, all these different relationships we have. What is the relationship you have with yourself? And it doesn't have to be something so, I think, where a lot of maybe self-help experts might say extreme, I think it's actually quite simple. It's genuinely approaching yourself the way you might approach others. Like, hey, how are you feeling? What's bothering you? Why is this bothering you?

Do you really believe that to be true?

Or what is it you really want? Why do you want those things? You know, actually having a relationship with yourself. And so I decided to create this episode. If I could give any advice on trusting your intuition and instincts, it would be these following. And so I wanted to stay in the same context as the previous episode, nine things. So here's nine riffs. I wrote these bullet points down and we're just going to riff on them, right? So the first one is creating enough silence to actually hear yourself.

I talk about this all the time. I talk about this online. I talk about this in these podcasts. I talk about this in the quarterly workshops I have inside of Substack, which you are all welcome to join. And they go on quarterly. And then there's all these other workshops that we do as well too.

But this is one of the most pivotal exercises we practice, which is creating enough silence to actually hear yourself. And I know silence terrifies a lot of people because the noise is loud at first, and maybe your mind is going a million miles an hour, you have so many things to do. This isn't about doing nothing. This is about creating space for yourself. You ever need just space from the world? That's this. That's this. You're creating space from the world so you can just hear yourself think for a moment, so you can actually ask yourself some questions, so you can tap in, what do I need? What's going on? Why do I feel disconnected from myself and from God? What is happening? And the more you create enough of that space and silence and time for you and the more you get connected, oh, you're going to know very quickly what isn't.

It'll, that'll start happening a lot faster. You will know what isn't. Also, you'll begin to understand what your system feels. You'll feel your nervous system. You'll feel your body. Like, it'll have reactions to things that feel good and things that don't. You gotta be careful of that, you know? But the point being, like, you'll know what feels settled in your being versus like, I don't know, something's off about that. Now, you know, there's that famous expression, my curiosity killed the cat. And I think it's an interesting one here that, like, it can be applied here. Isn't it funny that we can have a feeling, an intuition, an inkling, a knowing, like, ooh, that job is not for me. Or like, I don't know, that person or friend group, maybe not for me. Or nothing wrong with them. Let's make that clear. I mean, maybe there is, but that's not the distinction we want to make. We don't want to instantly just go and judge it just because we may have a weird feeling. I think the weird feeling might just be the body and the spirit trying to protect you and say, you know what, not your direction, not bad, not good. You don't have to categorize it. Just listen to your intuition. How are you feeling? There's something that feels off there. That's all you need to know. And I say that because we also don't want to villainize people or situations or anything when we really don't know enough information. We just want to learn to trust what is coming up inside of us. But that happens more when we create enough silence to actually hear ourselves and understand how we are feeling internally. All right, the second thing I put on here was notice what keeps returning to you. I find this fascinating. It's something that I was reflecting on when I was writing these points out, is that throughout my life, there was just certain things that always keep returning. There's a genuine, like wanting to understand it, a genuine curiosity, a natural understanding, a natural progression with it, a natural processing that always, or a natural ability, whatever it might be, or maybe you're constantly asked for the same things over and over again, that come easy to you, but not to others. There's something there. There's a natural ability.
