Bench Bow? That's ridiculous.

Or is it? We're gonna talk about it on today's DNVR Broncos Podcast because that is what Sean Payton was asked in his Monday morning press conference yesterday. We've got Sean's answer to that, and we're gonna break it down and just break down how crazy it is, ridiculous it is, in fact, that we're having this conversation, that Sean's being asked this question right now, if it's fair, if it's not, where we stand on it. Want to hear where all of you stand on it as well. Plus we got so much more to break down. Jonathon Cooper's back, Jonah Coleman, what could he provide for the Broncos? And at four and two through the first six games, what is the state of the Broncos right now? And let's start off with the question, the state of the Broncos being benching Bo. But before we do that, want to welcome you in to the Toyota lounge, driven by your local Front Range Toyota Stores, inside the DNVR Bar. We are the DNVR Broncos Podcast. Zac Stevens joined by Henry Chisholm, right here behind the camera today. Hank, how are we doing?

Henry Chisholm (1:00)

Good. Doing good.

I'm a little sick of the Bo Nix talk. I would love for him to just have like a 350-yard game against the Cardinals, so we just get one week off.

But, you know, it's the big story. It's like, what can you get out of Bo? What's wrong with Bo? And we've got a few more shows to talk through it. And hopefully on Sunday, he's just going to light the Cardinals up and we can talk about something else for another week.

Zac Stevens (1:31)

I think it's so funny that you're saying you're just getting sick of this conversation. I feel like it's just ramping up right now.

Sean Payton (1:36)

Yeah.

Zac Stevens (1:37)

So you might be in it for a long time right now.

Sean Payton (1:40)

Hopefully not.

Henry Chisholm (1:40)

I go back to when was when was Daggergate? When the they kept running Dagger and Bo wouldn't throw the ball.

SPEAKER_5 (1:48)

That was the 49ers game.

Sean Payton (1:49)

49ers game.

Henry Chisholm (1:50)

So the day after the 49ers game is when I had the realization that things just really weren't going well for Bo in particular and it just kind of slowly built from there. But it's been like a daily, some days like 90 seconds. Most days, 20 minutes.

Zac Stevens (2:06)

Yep.

Henry Chisholm (2:07)

In the post game show and the pregame show, the watch along. I mean, my goodness, it's every throw we're re-evaluating. But it's that's kind of maybe not the only question for the Broncos right now, but it's kind of the only big question at this point, I think, because what are you going to get out of Bo and is he going to help you win a Super Bowl? Is he going to hold you back from winning the Super Bowl?

Zac Stevens (2:28)

Yeah, I mean, honestly, the crazy part about this is if you would have told anyone that the conversation six weeks into the season that Sean Payton was going to be legitimately asked if he's considered a quarterback change, Henry, at the beginning of the season, you would have said two or four at best.

I might have said one in five, like if we're actually at that point where Sean is being asked that question, the Broncos season might be kind of toast at that point. So the fact that we're having this conversation and they're not one in five, they're not two in four, they're not three in three, they're four in two. I mean, that just shows the state of the rest of the Broncos and we'll really dive into that conversation later in the show. But it really is incredible, to take a step back and to have the quarterback be struggling to the extent where Sean Payton is asked if he's considered changing quarterbacks and the Broncos are four in two. In one way, yeah, it's not good the way Bo is playing. In another way, holy cow, the Broncos are playing this well when their quarterback is holding them back this much, it seems. That's kind of a great spot to be in one way.

Henry Chisholm (3:36)

Right. Assuming you can fix it.

Zac Stevens (3:38)

Right.

Henry Chisholm (3:38)

And that's why we start asking, how do you fix it? So I want to go back, it was probably like week two, week three, when people in the chat during the watch long were saying, you got to put Jarrett Stidham in the game.
