Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Rotoworld Football Show. It's Thursday, September 17th, 2026 I'm Patrick Daugherty, joined by Denny Carter and Kyle Dvorchak, and we are joined by the entire Week 2 Slate. The Commanders at the Cowboys, total over 50 The Vikings and their quarterback questions at the Bears, total under 50, maybe somewhat surprising on that one. The surprising Giants on the road to take on the equally surprising, in a bad way, Rams. Colts, Chiefs, a lot of fascinating matchups. All that and every fantasy relevant player. We come right back after this.

And we're back. And guys, I sounded kind of a hopeful tone in the opener. That was a lie.

Week 1 is a time of hope. Week 2 is, of course, when despair sets in. Everyone's already hurt. Your team is not good. Every pick was terrible. You were telling lies to yourself all summer long. Denny, apparently, it works the same way in the real NFL.

Denny Carter (1:18)

It does.

Patrick Daugherty (1:18)

It's rather touching. Very, very sad, poignant, profound.

Denny Carter (1:23)

Honest.

Patrick Daugherty (1:23)

Quotes this week from Joe Thomas. What do we have in common with Hall of Fame, former Browns left tackle Joe Thomas?

Denny Carter (1:30)

Yeah. Joe Thomas said in an interview about what it was like to be a Browns player for a million years.

Patrick Daugherty (1:37)

It was really surprising, right? It wasn't at all the takeaways we are expecting from me.

Denny Carter (1:41)

You would have thought it was a happy time in his life.

It turns out it wasn't. Reading these quotes, we kept thinking, oh, this is what fantasy managers feel like after week one, is you feel like you had a really good draft and then this happens.

Patrick Daugherty (1:56)

Then you have to go have a literal car cry.

Denny Carter (1:59)

He says after a particularly bad loss, 30 to nothing to the Tom Brady Patriots one year in his 10th NFL season. He says, quote, I had ice. I remember sitting in the car after the game and I was just crying. I had ice on both elbows and knees. I was in pain. My wife was driving and I was just looking out the window.

It was that moment when I realized I'd been kind of fooling myself for a while and we were not going to win no matter what I did. She finally said, are you OK? Did you have a bad game? And then the tears really started to come and I said, quote, I played a perfect game when we lost by 30 And yes, and I think that this is the feeling that you get when you come away from your draft and you go, oh, yeah, like I just made a team that's going to decimate, humiliate my league mates. And I lost by 45 in the week.

Patrick Daugherty (2:47)

Reality sets in. You have a good cry in the car by your wife.

I almost literally started crying about Fantasy Sports to my wife last week. Of course, about my Fantasy Baseball is in my finals. The only thing that matters. I'm over it. I'm a lot better now, though. Joe Thomas seems like he's in a better place too.

Denny Carter (3:03)

Yeah, your texts have gotten less dark.

Patrick Daugherty (3:08)

Yes, I'm just really playing for the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, exactly how you would expect. Seems like it takes a real mental toll.

Denny Carter (3:16)

Man. That new stadium is going to solve everything. Then they get trampled in week one. Then Todd Monkin is asked, does Deshaun Watson have to play better this week to keep his job? Monkin was like, no.

He was like, why?

Kyle Dvorchak (3:36)

Did you see the Watson thing where, I don't know, some reporter asked him something and he's like, what do you expect me to do? Come out here and throw 400 yards every week. He's like getting the worst player in the NFL who had a contract that was so terrible, it redefined how the NFL does contracts, is getting combative with reporters.

Denny Carter (3:56)

He said, oh no, it would be fine if you throw two.

Patrick Daugherty (4:03)

We didn't hear Denny's full quote because Deshaun Watson froze him. We're not freezing our intro, heading to our real show, fresh off their season opening, Humiliation in New York City. I said it's week two after all. Hope is out the window, despair is in. The Cowboys return home to host the Commander's four and a half point favorites, Kyle. The question is why?

Why are the Cowboys favored in this game? Not that the Commander's really showed out or anything, but that was a comprehensively terrible performance from Dallas. Everyone's falling for it again.
