Spyology Squad

About Mr. Jim: What started as a dad recording bedtime stories for his kids while traveling for work has become a phenomenon. Jim Jacob never set out to launch a podcast, he just needed his family to hear his stories.

Hello, friends. Welcome to Spyology Squad. We are a team of spies who specialize in science. You see, Dr. Stinkybreath and the Purple Ninjas are trying to take over the world through science. And it is up to us to stop them before it is too late.
On the last episode, we saw that Mr. Jim has confirmed a hurricane is coming and right in the worst time ever because the championship game was tomorrow. It looks like the Purple Ninja's plan is actually working. Do you think Spyology Squad is going to be able to save the day? I'm not sure if it's too late or not, but let's see what happens next. After Ava and Jayden arrived at HQ, Mr. Jim was able to show them strange weather patterns that were starting to just pop up. One near them and two other storms, one near New York City and the other by Vancouver. But the storm that was near them was the strongest of the three. Ava, Jayden and Mr. Jim are going to need to help the city prepare for the big storm that was coming.
I wish you could have seen how everyone worked together to make thousands of sandbags that would help save houses from the terrible flooding that comes with hurricanes. Ava, Jayden and their entire soccer team worked the rest of the day and into the night, and that is where a story continues. As Jayden woke up the next morning, he could hear the wind howling outside.
The trees were waving back and forth like they were dancing at a concert. He grabbed his walkie-talkie and called Ava.
SPEAKER_2 (1:49)
Shhh.
Jim Jacobs (1:52)
Ava, how's it going by your house?
Hey, Jayden. Uh, super windy and rainy, but you won't believe what I found in the satellite feed, and did you hear they canceled school?
SPEAKER_2 (2:06)
Shhh.
Jim Jacobs (2:07)
Wait, what?
It's like 7 o'clock in the morning and you already know all of that? How long have you been awake?
SPEAKER_2 (2:16)
Shhh.
Jim Jacobs (2:18)
I got an early start today. Besides, I had a hard time sleeping with all that noisy wind outside.
SPEAKER_2 (2:24)
Shhh.
Jim Jacobs (2:25)
Yeah, that was a really loud storm, but what did you say about a satellite feed?
SPEAKER_2 (2:32)
Shhh.
Jim Jacobs (2:34)
Well, I was just about to send out a video link so that me, you and Mr. Jim could all hop on together. It should be there any second.
SPEAKER_2 (2:42)
Shhh.
Jim Jacobs (2:43)
Jayden crawled out of bed and hobbled over to his desk, rubbing his eyes. He clicked the link that Ava had sent over and joined the Spyology Squad video room.
SPEAKER_2 (2:53)
Blink, blink.
Jim Jacobs (2:54)
Hey, good morning, Jayden, said Mr. Jim. Looks like you did you just roll out of bed?
Yeah. I guess you could say that. All right. Well, thank you both. I'm glad you both could make it here, said Ava. Here, let me share my screen real quick, so you can see what I'm looking at.
SPEAKER_2 (3:16)
Wow.
Jim Jacobs (3:19)
Ava, could you help me and Jayden understand exactly what it is that we're looking at? Looks like a picture of the ocean. You nailed it, Mr. Jim, said Ava. Yeah, that's right. This is the eye of the hurricane off the coast. Ava, I don't think you're right. That can't be the hurricane. I don't see any clouds. All I see is the water down below. Well, Jayden, that's actually the cool part. The center of the hurricane is called the eye and it doesn't have any clouds. So that's why our satellite feed from above is nice and clear so we can see the water below. If I zoom out, we can then see all the clouds of the hurricane circling around the eye. But anyway, that's not why I called this meeting here. Let me actually zoom in closer for you. Ava zoomed in on the map and Jayden said, wait, you called us here to look at, what is that, a pile of driftwood in the ocean?
I'm missing something. What's so special about that? Said Jayden. Usually driftwood isn't suspicious, said Ava. But what if I told you that was a very suspicious pile of driftwood?
I don't know, Ava. I don't think Jayden's buying it, and I'm having a hard time myself, said Mr. Jim. Fair enough, fair enough. Well, then check this out. Ava opened up a new app that showed radio frequencies that were being transmitted in the area, and she overlaid it onto the satellite feed. And it clearly showed that there were some kind of frequencies hovering around that driftwood. Wait a second, Ava. Time out, time out. Okay, I'm awake enough now. Do you mean to tell me that pile of driftwood is listening to the radio?
