Okay, guys, lots of blood, lots of fire, lots of nautical warfare in this one. Let's dive into the recap.

The action picks up two years later for the audience, but just two seconds later for the characters, because that is modern TV, baby. Yes. Rhaena Targaryen is right where we left her, test driving Sheepstealer somewhere over the Vale. It's going about as well as when I tried to learn how to stick on my dad's Mazda and almost left his transmission on a Vermont highway.
Back in King's Landing, Aemond is doing the first 100 days thing that new leaders like to do after ascending to the throne that his brother abdicated. And when I say abdicated, I mean he ran for his life with Larys and took a bunch of gold with him. He only gets so far getting picked up somewhere on the road by Rhaenyra's men who decide to sell Aegon and Larys for price and speaking of Rhaenyra, she's having one of what will be many spirited political debates with her annoying son, Jace. Sheesh. She wants to go all in on the Alicent peace plan, but Jace is skeptical. He goes full Admiral Ackbar warning her, it's a trap, but does she listen? She does not. By the way, this entire peace plan rests on Aemond not being king and flying to meet Chrissy Cole in the Riverlands. But what this book presupposes is, what if he didn't?
When Alys returns to King's Landing, she finds out that Aemond has declared himself king, lays out the alliance of the High Towers by land and air and the Triarchy by sea, and she tries to persuade Aemond to fly to Cole's aid, and he says no, but then one thing sways and that's getting to plant. The big wet one on his mom's lips works every time, so he is now saying he's going to go help Chrissy Cole. It's Thrones, baby!
