Show number 777, interview with House of Hamill.
Welcome to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, helping you celebrate Celtic culture through music. I am Marc Gunn. I am a Celtic musician and host, also of Pub Songs & Stories. Every song has a story. Every episode is a toast to Celtic and folk songwriters. This podcast is for fans of all kinds of Celtic music. We are here to build a diverse Celtic community and help the incredible artists who so generously share their music with you. If you hear music you love, please email the artists, let them know you heard them on the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast because we are more than a radio show. We are a community, a community of Celtic music and culture lovers. We support small and local artists. We spend money on things that matter, the personal, the heartfelt, on you and me. You can do that with each of the artists on today's show or your favorite artists by a CD, album pin, shirt, digital download or join their community on Patreon. You can find a link to all the artists in the show notes along with show times when you visit our website at celticmusicpodcast.com.
And I want to send out a huge thanks to everyone who made a pledge to make the Celtic Podfest happen. I'm happy to say we hit our goal. Most of the rewards won't be available until the festival launches, which is on Sunday, February 28th, 2027 at The Lost Druid Brewery in Avondale Estates, Georgia. I'd love if you come join us. If you're interested in some limited edition swag, including CDs, album pins and shirts, then make sure you visit the Kickstarter. You can still make some late pledges to the festival to make it a smashing success. Head them over to celticmusic.org/kickstarter.
Take you straight over there to Kickstarter page where you can support the podfest and keep it growing. I'm really excited because I got to do an interview with House of Hamill. They are performing at the Sherwood Celtic Music Festival, just outside of Austin, Texas. It happens in December. Sadly, I will not be there, but House of Hamill along with some of their other bands, including Enter the Haggis and Haggis X1, I think it is. They are all performing at Sherwood Celtic Music Festival. So if you're in the area, make sure you go check that out. And in any case, make sure you listen to the interview I did with them. I really had a great time chatting with them. And if you're a patron, you can get some bonus interview stuff. I have an extended interview that I released exclusively on Patreon. We kicked off the show with Aaron Dolan. That was Scotland The Brave from Farewell to Tir Na nÓg. Next up is Blazin Fiddles with Father Angus from Incendo.
After Blazin Fiddles came Trish Wesevich with The Mist of Avalon, then Pomplas with Farewell to the Corncrake, and we finish up the set with McFloosey with Kiss Kill or Marry Me from Balscadden Bay. I want your feedback. What are you doing today while listening to the podcast? You can send a written comment along with a picture of what you're doing or an audio recording, whether it's you saying, Hey, I love the podcast or of you performing a song or tune. I'd love to share it on the podcast. Email me, follow at bestkelticmusic.net. Jim Treslobos emailed, Dear Marc, The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast first landed in my feed when I was still carrying an iPod. I'd listened to the current episode and catch up the previous installments on the drive to and from work, learning about various Celtic bands from all over the planet, expanded my world view, and allowed me to support these independent artists. I applaud your response to last week's challenging criticism and offer my financial support finally for the podcast. This is in regards to the Celtic protest song back in March. You will not be getting a photo showing what I'm doing while listening to the podcast because it's my companion during housework. As they say on Firefly, see you in the verse. PS, The Wicked Tinker's Ickendrum, Big Bottle of Bad Ideas, is not a contemporary rebel song but may help illustrate the point. Thanks so much, Jim. I appreciate that and I appreciate you supporting the podcast. This show relies on your generosity and I appreciate everyone taking a stand, standing up to make that happen. Thank you, thank you. Tom Cochran email, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am actually still giving a dollar a month on an old account listed and at the $5 level with my current email. I've been listening on the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast app. When that stopped working, I started using the Patreon app, which has worked well for several months until episode 745 The last three episodes have shown up as five-minute samples. Yeah, I am so sorry about that, Tom. There have been some changes to Patreon. Hopefully, things are working.
