Hour 5: Yankees Bludgeon Red Sox as World Series Hopes Reach New Heights

Yes, but going back into the Yankees conversation and not so much about the comments about jazz and all that, but when you look at the series that just took place, and before we look ahead to the next week, the Yankees win Friday night, which was the last time I spoke to you guys, won nothing. And it feels like, all right, they won, but a lot of Yankee fans with the concerns they always have, they don't score runs, the offense is not good enough, all of this, they proceed to go out there and bludgeon the Red Sox two of the next three games. And when you think about the three wins over the weekend, you got fantastic pitching in all three of those games. And in the one game, you didn't get great pitching, you shut the Red Sox out. I don't think Cam Schlutler was great on Friday night. But then an offense that has been stagnant at times, but I think has gotten out of it a little bit. Because when you look at, you know, they've scored one, two, three, four, five of their last eight games, they've scored seven or more runs. So you go out there and you don't just dominate with your pitching. You don't just dominate on defense as we saw Friday night with a few of those great throws, at times the timely plays over the weekend. You dominate at the plate and you basically put the Red Sox in a position that you can now focus a bit more on what's ahead. You're now four games ahead of them. And if you want to have a chance at the division, you know, before going into the Mets series, because the Mets are not a good team, but there is that rivalry aspect, the crowd will be juiced up, and maybe not that the Yankees and Mets view each other as rivals per se this season, but when you add in, it's always going to be sold out, and it'll be a way more pro Yankee crowd than the average, you know, city feel or subway series environment. It's at Yankee Stadium.
The Rockies, Padres, Angels is a very favorable nine game slate, and I know it's a West Coast road trip, but looking at the division and wanting to still have a chance at taking the spot from the Rays, and I really think getting home field advantage in the wild card round is the most important, but winning the division would give the Yankees a chance one, to give it a little bit more time. Let's say Judge comes back and he plays a couple weeks, and then you go into the playoffs, and he does get to breathe for three, four days as almost a recovery period for the long stretch. If they could go seven and two, and or take two games at least this week from the Rays, and next week, obviously, going into that subway series, go seven and two over the next nine games, go into that subway series, back two and a half, two games, the Yankees, I feel like, would be in a position that they would be putting so much pressure on a Rays team that probably feels like they have to clinch home field advantage, and they need every help they can get to make a run like they want to make. Because I truly believe even what the Yankees did this weekend to the Red Sox, I would still view the Red Sox as the Yankees' biggest competition, not just because of the on-field stuff, but also when you think about home field advantage. If you're traveling to St. Petersburg, that is going to be a pro Yankee crowd. If you play the White Sox, I would think yes, that it's going to be a rejuvenated fan base that's going to want to show out.
When viewing, because the Yankees are going to finish with a top three record in the American League, because the White Sox are going to get a buy, and they have the fourth best record in the American League. The Yankees going to Boston is a different level of road trip, in my opinion. They go into Houston, they go into Chicago, they go into Cleveland, or St. Petersburg, Tampa.
