The Wheel's coming up, Damien, get ready.

**Craig Carton** (0:06)
It's about 25 minutes away.

**Damien Woody** (0:08)
How should I feel about this? I'm kind of intimidated.

**Craig Carton** (0:10)
You should be.

**Damien Woody** (0:11)
I should be?

**Craig Carton** (0:12)
That seat's a tough seat to sit in when The Wheel comes around. Okay. So we'll see if you, we'll see how you perform under the bright lights in the big city.
Bothering them forget, tonight at 7 o'clock, the Bayo Little League team will try to win their second consecutive game in the Little League World Series. We've got Jet Steelers tonight. We got the New York Giants, of course, coming up with the Miami Dolphins. Did you like the, when you played, when another team joined you in camp and you guys got to do it against...

**Damien Woody** (0:42)
Like the joint practices?

**Craig Carton** (0:43)
Did you like that or no?

**Damien Woody** (0:45)
I did it one time, the joint practices. It's kind of, it's a good change up because, you know, once you've been hitting against the same guys for, you know, two weeks you get tired and you want to hit against somebody else. You know, the one thing about joint practices I hate is, you know, everyone has an ego and all it takes is just a little flicker for something, for a brawl to start. Right. And I always hated brawls. As an office lineman, I didn't want to expend a lot of energies trying to fight someone. Now, I will say this, I did start a fight one time. What was it? And it didn't end well.
This was my first year in Detroit when I came over as a free agent from New England.
And it was like the second day of training camp practice. I was fighting a guy by the name of Sean Rodge, defensive tackle. He pushed me at the end of the play. And so I just completely lost it. And I committed the ultimate cardinal sin. I threw a punch without even looking. And you know guys have their helmet on. And I have the scar on my hand to prove it.

**Craig Carton** (1:46)
Is that where that scar is from?

**Damien Woody** (1:47)
That scar, I have a metal plate in my hand from throwing a punch and not knowing that Sean Rodge had his helmet on. And it shattered the bone in my hand. And Steve Mariucci at the time was just beside himself.
And I literally, I went down to Alabama, got surgery, and I had to play like the first six weeks of the season with a big old cast on my hand. So I was playing, yes, I was literally playing with one hand.

**Craig Carton** (2:16)
How did you break it on the top of your hand?

**Damien Woody** (2:19)
Because when I was, he pushed me and I just swung. When I look at it, and it hit his helmet, and I just felt a big, in my hand. Really? Like the bone just exploded when it hit his helmet. And I knew, I'm like, oh, I screwed up big time.

**Craig Carton** (2:40)
That's also a good lesson. Leave your helmet on.

**Damien Woody** (2:42)
Leave your helmet on. If you're going to get in a fight. That's right. Leave your helmet on.

**Craig Carton** (2:45)
I never understood the guys that take the helmet off like, dude, we know you're tough guys. You don't have to take the helmet off. It's the dumbest thing you could do.

**Damien Woody** (2:53)
Never take your helmet off.

**Craig Carton** (2:54)
Yeah, so you started a fight and you got hurt.

**Damien Woody** (2:56)
And I got hurt in the process. And I got reamed by everybody in the organization.

**Craig Carton** (3:02)
I bet you did. Here is Mary in New Jersey on the fan. Mary, good afternoon. How are you, doll?

**Mary** (3:09)
I'm doing well. How are you doing, Craig?

**Craig Carton** (3:11)
Doing great. What's going on?

**Mary** (3:13)
I just wanted to give a call and let you know how much my husband and I truly appreciated your last interview with Don, was it Cronson? Is that correct? Yeah.
What a pleasure. I could listen to that man for another three hours. And the way you conducted that interview was phenomenal. And I just that's why I'm calling because-

**Damien Woody** (3:34)
That's very, very kind.

**Craig Carton** (3:36)
I loved every minute of it too, so did Damien.

**Mary** (3:39)
Oh, yes. Unbelievable. Like he should have this stuff in his narrative, right?

**Damien Woody** (3:45)
Get him to write a book.

**Craig Carton** (3:45)
