10 in front of 5, Carton Show, Big Mac. Great having you here today. 888-808-119.

I saw a blurb say that that Jim Nance commented on Tony Romo and his disappearance from CBS and the buyout of the contract and all that stuff, but I had to be honest, I didn't see the comments. So I'm assuming they're probably very neutral and very, I wish Tony all the best, he was a great partner, JJ is doing a great job kind of thing. But did you see the comments?

Craig Carton (0:33)

I did not, no.

Chris McMonigle (0:33)

Petey, did you see the comments?

Pete Hoffman (0:35)

Yeah, he basically said he thinks he's gonna work again and he's got so much talent.

Chris McMonigle (0:38)

Yeah, so he did the right thing.

Craig Carton (0:40)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (0:40)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (0:42)

Speaking of broadcasters, there's another story you are...

Chris McMonigle (0:44)

I don't think he's gonna work again.

Craig Carton (0:46)

I don't think he's gonna work again.

Chris McMonigle (0:47)

Unless, like if he put it out there after a year or two away, you know what, I kinda got the bug, I wanna do it.

I could absolutely see an Amazon or a Netflix saying, hey, be our guy. But outside of that, my gut is that Tony Romo, outside of trying to be a professional golfer, is probably out of the limelight for a long time.

Craig Carton (1:06)

I would think so. I'd be surprised if he ever... Plus, he's got the money to do it too.

Why would you wanna? And you're not gonna get a top job right away. You're gonna have to go and be a third team, fourth team, and humble yourself.

Chris McMonigle (1:16)

But don't we work because they pay us? It's not part of the deal. Well, of course. Like if you woke up one day, how old is Romo, 50 now, maybe ballpark, right?

Craig Carton (1:24)

Yeah, somewhere.

Chris McMonigle (1:24)

Gotta be close to 50 years old or thereabouts, right?

Like if you're worth 150 million bucks and you're 50 years old, he's 46, great. Like doesn't it come to a point where you don't have interest in like investing in stuff and having a local bar? Sure. But aren't you kind of done?

Craig Carton (1:42)

I would think so. If you woke up tomorrow and had Jim, had his money, wouldn't you be done?

Chris McMonigle (1:47)

Gonzo. Yeah.

Craig Carton (1:48)

Be off buying that truck right now.

Chris McMonigle (1:50)

I have a Chevy Silverado truck in my driveway right now today. As a matter of fact, I hope sales is listening.

Do we have a sales department here anymore?

Craig Carton (1:58)

I don't even know. But speaking about broadcasters and money, our guy Ryan Glasspiegel?

Chris McMonigle (2:04)

Yeah, it's my guy.

Craig Carton (2:05)

Yeah, he just broke a story saying, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have had tension after Buck got his new ESPN deal and Aikman has not gotten a formal offer.

Chris McMonigle (2:14)

Why is that Joe Buck's fault?

Craig Carton (2:15)

I don't know, but apparently Buck broke the ice on the unspoken tension and the two had an argument in the Monday Night Football announce booth this week.

Chris McMonigle (2:25)

Off air?

Craig Carton (2:25)

Yes.

Chris McMonigle (2:27)

Huh.

So what did Aikman think, that Joe Buck wouldn't redo his deal without Troy doing his deal? They don't negotiate the deals together.

Craig Carton (2:36)

But apparently there's been unspoken tension, Buck tried to address it and it led to an argument.

Chris McMonigle (2:41)

Huh.

That's interesting to me. Because they gave Joe Buck like a $100 million deal or whatever it is, right?

Craig Carton (2:48)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (2:49)

So if you're Troy Aikman, who by the way has made a boatload of money himself. Sure. I think he's making $18, $20 million a year right now. So let's not cry for Troy Aikman. But like, wouldn't you be happy for your partner over that many years?

Like if you and I are together for 10 years and it gets out, that you get a Banco contract, I'd be happy for you.

Craig Carton (3:12)

You'd like to think so.

Chris McMonigle (3:14)

That's just called being a normal human being.

Craig Carton (3:16)

Yeah. I mean, I guess there's some sort of...

Chris McMonigle (3:17)

I'll do my deal, you do your deal, you get paid good.

Craig Carton (3:20)

They left Fox together, they're now at ESPN, they've been a team for forever and it's just...

Chris McMonigle (3:24)

But they don't negotiate together.

Craig Carton (3:25)

No, I wouldn't think so.
