Summer's over, kids are back in school, teachers are back to work after a three-month hiatus.

Chris McMonigle (0:13)

Those poor teachers.

Craig Carton (0:14)

Oh yeah, there's that nine-month job they got. Really, less than that if you think about it. It's a ten-month job.

SPEAKER_3 (0:20)

You can sit here all the vacation time you get.

Chris McMonigle (0:22)

It's a ten-month job.

Craig Carton (0:23)

Every holiday off as well.

Chris McMonigle (0:25)

Well, we all get every holiday off.

Craig Carton (0:26)

And by the way, good for them because they deserve that time off, because they're raising a future generation of amazing Americans.

Chris McMonigle (0:33)

That's right.

Craig Carton (0:34)

That's right. We should appreciate our teachers.

Chris McMonigle (0:36)

We don't appreciate them nearly enough.

Craig Carton (0:37)

Well, that's not true, but we should appreciate them more.

Chris McMonigle (0:40)

We should.

Craig Carton (0:41)

That's right.

Chris McMonigle (0:41)

We absolutely should.

Craig Carton (0:42)

Wouldn't it be great to have a job where after 20 years you get a full pension? And you don't know if they work six and a half months out of the year?

Chris McMonigle (0:49)

It's more like ten months out of the year.

Craig Carton (0:52)

By the way, sign me up for that. They should.

They should.

Chris McMonigle (0:56)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (0:57)

Make extra money.

Chris McMonigle (0:57)

Make extra money.

Craig Carton (0:59)

An SAT tutor or something. Yeah. You know, deal with troubled kids. I don't know. Do something. Get out of the house, woman.

I never really liked the teacher that put on a jacket and tie to teach. I always liked the teacher that was just like a normal guy or gal. You know, wore a hoodie to work. You know, jeans, sneakers, was relatable.

Recognize that no kid really wants to be there at all. Your job is to make him more palatable. Those are the best teachers.

Chris McMonigle (1:27)

I think that's fair.

Craig Carton (1:28)

Or like counselors. I don't want to put out any names, but I got a dear friend who's a counselor at a school out in Queens, Dan Flax.

Chris McMonigle (1:38)

Dan Flax?

Craig Carton (1:38)

Yeah, he's my big rainbow cooking connect. Oh. Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (1:42)

So what does, you know, Mr. Flax do?

SPEAKER_3 (1:44)

He watches our show.

Craig Carton (1:46)

And then when parents come in, he fumbles around for the remote and he puts it on mute and turns it off. So they're like, aren't you doing any schoolwork? And I was like, no, I'm watching The Carton Show with Big Mac.

Chris McMonigle (1:55)

Is he helping them, like, get into college?

SPEAKER_3 (1:57)

Is he that kind of counselor? He's one of these guidance counselors.

Craig Carton (1:59)

All jokes aside, he's one of those guys that changes kids' lives. Sure. Yeah, there's a few and far between, unfortunately. He's one of those special counselors that protects kids, looks out for them and shoots it straight with them.

Chris McMonigle (2:13)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (2:13)

Which is what kids should get. Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (2:16)

So get it straight.

Craig Carton (2:17)

Get it straight, Billy. That's exactly right. I didn't... Did you have a favorite teacher? Oh, I got a guy real quick on Twitter.

Let's find this guy who keeps claiming, don't listen to your partner when he when he waxes poetic about his high school athleticism.

Chris McMonigle (2:39)

Okay.

Craig Carton (2:40)

So before I get into it with you and start doing some research.

Chris McMonigle (2:44)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (2:44)

Is there anything you want to come clean about other than you're a great offensive lineman? You told us that.

Chris McMonigle (2:50)

Yes.

Craig Carton (2:51)

You were the captain at least one year, if not two years of the football, of the high school football team.

Chris McMonigle (2:55)

Captain in my senior year.

Craig Carton (2:56)

And I think you voted best athlete, at least or something along those lines.

Chris McMonigle (3:00)

I wasn't voted best athlete. I was awarded best athlete of the year, athlete of the year of my high school.

Craig Carton (3:05)

For your high school?

Chris McMonigle (3:06)

Yes.

Craig Carton (3:06)

That's all legitimate.

Chris McMonigle (3:07)

That's all legitimate.

Craig Carton (3:10)

Okay.

Chris McMonigle (3:10)

What is anyone else claiming?

Craig Carton (3:12)

That it's not legitimate.

Chris McMonigle (3:14)

That's just a hater. That's what I thought.

Craig Carton (3:16)

I defended you.

Chris McMonigle (3:17)

Well, what are they saying specifically? It's just not true.

Craig Carton (3:20)

I go, I can't wait for...

I'm paraphrasing. It's not right in front of me. So something along the lines of, when you guys are back together after the summer, I'm coming with the receipts.
